It just seems like all hell is breaking out all around us. The economy is way down, local crime is way up, natural disasters loom and are attacking everywhere. What is a person to do? Most people seem to be in a state of confusion. Whom can you trust? For starters, stop listening to those negative reports, stop worrying, and simply speak the Word!
I bet you are asking “where is the catch?” There is no catch. Well, actually there is one. “I knew it” I heard someone say. It involves allowing the One who created You to love you like never before. It involves asking Jesus Christ to come into your life and to be Lord over you and over your life.
The world was created by words- The Word of God. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made” (John 1:1-3, NIV, 1984, Biblica). When you become saved, by simply asking Jesus Christ into your life, asking for forgiveness, and recognizing Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you then are given the same Spirit of God that spoke the world into existence. It’s that simple. God made it easy for you by doing the hard part, dying on a cross for you and for me.
You see, when you become a Christian and accept Jesus’ Blood as payment (atonement) for your sins, and you believe in His death and resurrection, the same Spirit who was there when God created you and spoke into you your destiny, then moves to live within you- The Holy Spirit. And since Holy Spirit was there, He knows what God spoke into your life, and He wants to help you speak and stand in agreement those plans that God has for you. “For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD,’ plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’” (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV). “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart” (Jeremiah 1:5).
Kevin Spacey’s character Verbal Kint, in the movie The Usual Suspects said “The greatest trick the devil ever played was convincing the world he does not exist” (1995. The Usual Suspects). Has the devil convinced you that he doesn’t exist? Because if he has, then he’s got you exactly where he wants you, which is to not realize that you have the power to speak life and death (“The tongue has the power of life and death” Proverbs 18:21). And the devil doesn’t want you to know this. He doesn’t want you to know that Jesus Christ already defeated him at the cross. God says “My people perish for lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6). The devil would rather keep you in ignorance so he can continue to “prowl around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8).
I was at an event a while back and was part of a conversation with two other individuals. The one person was explaining to the other person about how bad things were going. The other person was counseling this individual on who God is and the promises of God. The listener then retorted “But…” and went on with her dissention. When this person said “But” I immediately was allowed to see what was happening in the spirit realm. When the “But” was released into the atmosphere as a retort to Godly counsel, I saw a dark door open up and a hideous rodent-like creature peer out of the door, and with its claw, it grabbed the word “But” and pulled it into the closet from which it came. You see, this dear individual, in her lack of understanding of the importance of words, had not only canceled out the Word of God concerning her situation, but she gave place to the devil. She gave the devil a “right of way” in her life concerning her circumstances.
My dear reader, know that what you say in the natural has a serious impact in the spiritual realm- be it good or evil. For God says that He watches over His Word to Perform it (Jeremiah 1:12). And God furthers states that “As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:10-11, NIV, 1984, Biblica).
The devil has no choice but to obey the Word of God, for he is under the authority of God’s Word. When you speak the Word of God accurately concerning you, your life, and your situation, then you will have what God says you will have concerning you, as the devil must bow; however, when you speak contrary to God’s Word, then you give the devil license and authority over your life and your situation. For just as God is paying attention and watching what you speak, so is the devil.
Words are very powerful. Think about this: When Jesus asked Peter if he loved him (John 21:15-17), Jesus asked Peter three times, because the earlier betrayal that Peter committed against Jesus three times was still hanging out there in the spirit realm, and Jesus needed to cancel it out by asking the question three times. For earlier on, Jesus stated to Peter in Luke 22:31 “Simon, Simon! [Peter, Peter!] Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat.”
Believe the report of the Lord concerning you my dear reader. And choose to speak life, peace, and prosperity into your spirit and into your life. Why not try to stand on the Word of God rather than the words of people? Is what you are doing and the situation you are in working for you? Then let the Word of God do the work. Give it a try. I hear some of you saying “what if it doesn’t work?” Well, what if it does?
I can tell you that the Word of God is the only thing I stand on and His word works for me every second of every day. His Word is my provision. For God is my Provider, My Protector, My WayMaker, and My StrongTower. Let God be who He wants to be in your Life. Let Him be for you “more than you can ever ask or imagine” (Ephesians 3:20). Let Him do it for you today. He is waiting for you to ask.
“He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.” – Romans 4:20-21
May God Bless you and keep you always.
With warmest regards, and
