The destruction in the world and the chaos that arises in our daily lives are evidence that evil is alive and well. Marsha Burns of Faith Tabernacle describes these chaotic events as a “work of the enemy that comes like a whirlwind or tornado”.
Her words not only uplift my soul, they reaffirm that everything in my life; my struggles and my pain, are only here for a season and that I will progress and prevail through my circumstances. God is speaking to me, He wants me to know that He is here holding my hand, and watching over my children day and night. Even though the waves are treacherous, I have to hold on, because the storm will not last always.
Having endless faith is the key to survival through these storms.
Being able to stand tall and say “I stand only because of God and the faith I have in Jesus Christ”. Being able to stand and say “I will not be defeated by the strong holds of the devil, he cannot have my mind, my soul, or my family; then humbly dropping to my knees and praising God for what He has already done, which is protecting and bringing me sanely through the storm.
We all know that God does not make mistakes, nor should we question Him, everything that He allows to happen, is done out of love and to ensure our strength for things to come.
Addiction is only one of the seeds of evil that has grown, flourished and manifested into a horrendous epidemic. It hides itself in a number of shapes, colors and smells, to conceal its true identity and purpose, which is to kill, steal, and destroy the mind, body, and soul. It makes you think that you need it and that you cannot do without it, it places itself above the almighty God himself.
This is a problem because we know that God said in Exodus 20: 3 “You should have no other god before Me” (Holy Bible, New Living James Version).
Addictions are life struggles, which can be seen in our everyday lives. Life problems will come as swiftly as a Tsunami, bringing the strongest to their knees.
What’s that old staying, ‘When it rains it pours’… This is true, let me explain…
Think of these struggles as earthquakes, which can shake and unravel lives. After the big earthquake, you began to restore, savage, and clean –up things that have been affected by this disaster. While you are still dusting yourself off, here come a multitude of aftershocks, which are so prevalent that they not only knock down what you have picked up, but also causes severe damage to things that were not harmed by the larger earthquake. Aftershocks are defined as “smaller earthquakes that occur after a previous large earthquake”. These aftershocks in life are designed by the devil to shake your faith.
Being able to rely on pure unadulterated faith is the shelter needed from these natural disasters. God will also place people in your lives that are there to help navigate you through the storm. These people can be your closet friend or a common stranger.
Let me tell you how He works:
While being caught in the midst of the wind and rain, my dear friend Dr. DeAnna Brown sends me a text; it’s not a fancy text will smiley faces or pictures, it only states:
‘2 Thessalonians 3:3 “But the Lord is faithful: he will make you strong and guard you from the evil one” (The Life Recovery Bible, New living Translation).’ These words were profound and pulled me a little closer to the shores.
Through Jesus Christ, these storms will begin to diminish and the struggles will seem to disintegrate. This will not take place right away, it is a process, you have to rebuild, replant and restore, however roots will began to grow and stronger foundations will be laid. These foundations, as long as you have God, are stronger and are able to handle future natural disasters which will surely come.
