In Utah, we have the opportunity to play golf in many different types of weather. As summer begins, we will have some hot and dry weather with the occasional rain storm. It is also important to remember that we have high winds at many of our golf courses. This is the beginning of a top ten list that will list which golf balls are the top ones to play with in Utah summers.
Beginning with number ten, we have the Top Flite Gamer V2. You may be surprised to see Top Flite golf ball on any top ten list. This ball is a good ball at a great price. This is actually not the first list that featured the Gamer as a top golf ball. It was awarded a gold medal on the 2011 Golf Digest Hot List. Being a gold medal winner on this list is nothing to scoff at. This is a very prestigious award that many golfers and golf retailers look at to decide which golf balls to play and stock in their stores.
Top Flite is a Callaway company. Callaway is a company renowned in the golf world for innovation and quality products. The Gamer V2 is no exception. The original Gamer was released in 2010. It was a good golf ball, but the V2 is an improvement upon the original model.
The Gamer V2 has a much more durable cover than the original. This allows you to play the ball longer, as long as you can keep it out of the water. It also has a softer core and a redesigned outer core. All of these components make it a very good golf ball. It is a three piece ball, which allows for more playability around the green and when you are putting. The outer core is a soft thin layer that gives a player more feel when chipping and putting. There will be no golf ball on this list that has less than three layers. This is because the three layers give you more than any two piece ball can.
The Gamer V2 features a dimple in dimple design that is featured in all Top Flite golf balls. This allows the ball to have more aerodynamic ability and stay in the air longer. This, in turn, creates more distance. It creates more aerodynamics by reducing the drag that the air creates on the ball. This type of technology has been very effective and even other manufacturers have produced dimple in dimple designs due to Top Flite’s success. The dimple in dimple design is good in windy conditions that we experience here in Utah. It will still be affected by the wind, but the low drag helps control it a little better.
This golf ball features a seamless design in order to create for more consistency throughout the entirety of the ball. It has 332 dimples and covers about 88% of the surface of the ball. With a compression rating of about 80. This ball is perfect for swing speeds from 80 to about 95 miles per hour.
There is one thing that this ball lacks that a typical three piece ball will do better. The spin on chip shots and approach shots is not as much as most players would like to see. If spin doesn’t matter to you than this ball is a great choice.
The best feature of the Top Flite Gamer V2 is that it is inexpensive. Retail on this ball is $19.99 a dozen. Right now at most golf retailers, such as Edwin Watts Golf in Murray, you can get two dozen for $32.99.
In the thin air we have in Utah this ball will be long off the tee. It is a good ball to play in high altitudes. The Gamer V2 is a ball that will perform at its peak in the Utah climate.
