Them’s Fightin’ Words… (Intro)
CM Punk says it’s beddy bye time for Kofi Kingston; Kharma and Kelly share a shower scene.
Next up U.S. champion Kofi Kingston takes on CM Punk. The two put on a very good match that had the crowd up on their feet at points. Punk’s Nexus dogs wait in the wings, ready for any excuse to rush the ring and mob Kingston. Punk, probably realizing what everyone else has by this point–that the whole Nexus ganging up on people thing is wearing thin– orders them to stay back. Thankfully too as this match does not deteriorate, like most Nexus member matches usually do, into a dog pile. Punk does the ‘Go to sleep’ finisher on Kingston (and nothing spells nap time like a knee to the face) and rolls him up for the win. But no mention is made of the fact that Punk just almost effortlessly beat the U.S. champion. Is CM Punk really that important, that he can beat Kofi and not even bat an eye at his little championship title? It’s not a very good testimonial for your title when you’re only holding it because someone else higher on the card just can’t be arsed to bother. Doesn’t this cheapen the value of both Kofi and the belt around his waist? Should one of your up-and-coming, title holding stars be jobbing to one of your A-list? So many questions, so few answers.
Ok is the WWE going to give Kharma an actual match anytime soon? (Yes, I realize this is another question. Last one, promise. Or not, we’ll see how this goes.) Because her coming out and steamrolling a different diva every week is interesting but it’s starting to get a bit repetitive. Kelly Kelly and Brie Bella compete and Kelly takes the win. She gets snuck by the twins and by the time she comes to the eerie “cackling” theme music is playing and the monstrous Kharma has already made her way to the ring. One of the Bellas puts up a fight but gets flattened. The other takes to the top rope to jump on the large woman but Kharma catches her mid flight then drops her back down to Earth, hard. Finally Kharma focuses her attention on the person she’s wanted all along, the one she’s been chasing for the past three weeks. Kelly Kelly shrinks away in the corner as Kharma approaches. She does not attack her like we were all expecting but does… something else, instead.
I started to get a very “women’s prison b-movie shower scene” feel out of the way she approached Kelly Kelly and proceeded to stroke her hair and toy with her a bit before laughing and then exiting the ring. In prison lingo I’m sure that must mean “You gon’ eat yo’ connneeee breeeeaadd?” or something similar. I was almost waiting for the two to start making out. (Ahh, Attitude era, how I long for thee.)
