What does housekeeping have to do with Technology ? Well, if it is a vacuum from Dyson, it has everything to do with technology. The new Dyson Digital Slim is an almost weightless powerhouse that will in fact replace any older kluge and overweight unit.
It was a breeze to unbox and set up. After finding the perfect area for the holding stand/wall charging unit, it took about 3 minutes to connect the battery, the main tube and the brush unit. If following the directions, it was left to charge for 3.5 hrs.
After the charge, we put it to the test over the following house hold floor coverings;
- Berber carpet
- Hard wood floor
- Linoleum tiles
- Stairway and Auto (with included attachments)
First off, it is so quiet, even in “MAX” mode that you will not believe how much it picks up. No matter what the flooring or carpeting was, it did a great job, including pet dander, bird food for exotic household pets and also general dust. I was able to vacuum close to 800 FT2 on normal speed on the full charge.
It boasts battery life of 15mins and 6 mins (Regular vs Max), but I believe it was closer to 20+ for regular and almost 10 for max power. I used the max power infrequently, based on noticeable dust & debris. Regular speed is actually fine for every day vacuuming.
It was then on to the car. I took the two included attachments, as well as the regular attached floor brush. Before going in to how good this unit is, please get rid of your preconceived notions that you need to spend an hour of vacuuming your car, because you don’t. I used it on normal speed for 90% if te time, only putting it to “max” for piles of dirt. It did better than any carwash vaccume and completed the whole car (2010 Ford Focus) in about 20 minutes without charging.
Storing it is as easy as it is light and powerful. Once the bracket is attached to the wall, it is as simple as plugging it into the bracket. It self charges and is ready to go for the next mess.
There are no bags, nor is there a risk you getting your hands dirty. Simply, depress the release lever on the side of the collection area and all dirt, debris and dust falls right out, without your hands getting dirty.
Simply stated, if you want to “think” you are saving by buying a vacuum half the price, you are wrong. They cannot beat the durability and even the warranty of a Dyson. At a $299 MSRP, it is not priced out of the average household, considering this could easily last 20 years (opinion only). With its multi-floor and digital motor technology, this is a unit that can go anywhere; the shop, the kitchen, dining room, kids rooms, etc. Learn more @ www.dyson.comor head over to Amazon.comfor a great deal.
