Philadelphia dental student Ashley Hebert had a rough time this week on ABC’s “The Bachelorette.” Not only did she get roasted to a crisp on a mean-spirited group date, but one of the bachelors left the show before she could kick him to the curb.
Since the show’s premiere episode last month, Ashley has been on high alert to Bentley Williams, a contestant whom she was warned about by former “Bachelor” co-star, Michelle Money.
Money, who happens to be friends with Williams’ ex-wife, told Ashley that he may not be coming on the show for the right reasons (translation: to meet her). But Ashley dismissed the warning and opted to give Bentley a chance.
Too bad he was cute and charming. Bentley swept her off her feet. On this week’s episode, she revealed that Bentley is the guy she is falling in love with.
But after a rough group date in which ten of the guys roasted her (her flat chest was one of the main themes of the night), Ashley turned to Bentley for comfort. Certain he was a shoe-in to get a rose (this is his ego talking), Bentley was later put off when she gave it to Ryan P. instead.
In an extended break up scene, Bentley showed up at Ashley’s quarters and announced he is leaving. He used his daughter as an excuse, saying he just misses her too much, but viewers know the truth: Bentley is not attracted to Ashley and he wanted out.
The Bentley drama put a damper on Ashley’s later date with J.P., a nice guy construction manager. In the end she sent home Chris and a maskless Jeff this week, while her heart still ached for Bentley.
So have we seen the last of Bentley Williams?
According to “Bachelor” blogger Reality Steve, Bentley does indeed return to the show later in the season, but it’s not to win back Ashley’s heart. Turns out she wants to see him one last time because she needs closure.
In the Philadelphia area, “The Bachelorette” can be seen on Monday night at 8:00 p.m. on WPVI Channel 6.
