I found last night’s Premiere of ‘The Bachelorette’ with Ashley Hebert to be quite entertaining and better than expected. Ashley’s back in L.A. living the California dream, at least for a couple months while filming. She gets a cool swanky pad and awesome convertible. The show opens with her revealing that she did indeed fall in love with Brad Womack. Her insecurities got in the way, and she does regret not telling Brad up front how she felt. While filiming ‘Bachelor’ she didn’t believe Brad had feelings for her. However, while watching the show she could see his feelings were indeed real. She’s learned from the experience & plans to do it all differently this time.
The group of guys assembled appear (for now) to be mosty sincere & there for the right reasons. No real obvious ones just there to become famous, except of course Bentley. We learn early on, from Ashley herself while in a convo w/ host Chris Harrison, that one of her friends let her know that she knows contender Bentley & that he’s basically not to be trusted. Bentley is recently divorced with a daughter & lives in Salt Lake City, Utah. According to Reality Steve, it was Michelle Money, one of Brad Womack’s front runners on the last season of ‘The Bachelor’ who also lives in SLC, who gave Ashley the heads up. Ashley was hoping that she wouldn’t be attracted to Bentley, but that wasn’t the case. She did think he was very good looking & was what she was looking for. Had she not known about the drama surrounding him, he would be a frontrunner. I found it interesting that all this drama was revealed up front vs reading the back story online. Guess they wanted to spice things up right away and draw viewers in. It worked for me.
I found these guys to be quite charming and many brought their A-game in trying to make a good first impression when they got out of the limo to first greet Ashley. All were successful ranging in age from about 28-34. Some of the more original meet n greets included my fave West, who brought a compass which happend to be stuck on West. He told Ashley that if she ever gets lost in the process that she uses the compass to find her way back to him. Sonoma winemaker Ben brought a bottle of wine & 2 glasses & toasted upon meeting her. Restaurant owner, Constantine, brought floss, a funny touch as Ashley is studying to be a dentist. Ryan brought a digital camera & took photos. Even Ashley was surprised by the caliber of men that was there & thought they were better than expected. Of they always say this, but she could see her future husband among this group.
The funniest part of the show was poor liquor distributor Tim from NY. He ended up distributing too much liquor to himself during the coktail hour. He was wasted & could barely speak. As if seeing him like this unable to have a normal conversation with Ashley wasn’t bad enough, we later see about 5 minutes of footage of him snoring. Eventally, even though Ashley felt bad, she felt his behavior was inexcusable & to show she is taking this very seriously, had no choice but to send Tim home right then & there..rose ceremony diss not needed. The night showed some cute funny antics from the men trying to stand out & get Ashley’s attention. Lousiiana attorney Ben impressed Ashley with his French and cue cards he wrote on to get her attention, while she was talking to others. Another, called his Mom and had Ashley speak to her. One guy grabbed a guitar and pretended he was about to serenade Ashley but alas it was just a ploy and he ended up throwing the guitar in the pool. No repeat of past contestant Wes here. The first impression rose went to Ryan.
In the end,18 remained 6 more went home during the rose ceremony. Casting seemed to have done a good job in choosing these men, as the ones who got sent home seemed sincerely sad to be leaving. All also seemed to have actually watched Ashley on her season of ‘Bachelor’ and came into this show liking her.
If you want to be surprised as to who’s left standing in the end read no further. If you want to know, read on. Here’s who gets the hometown dates as revealed by Reality Steve (www.realitysteve.com).
***Ben Flajnik-the Sonoma winemaker
***Constantine Tzortzis-the restaurant owner from GA
***JP Rosenbaum – lives in NY & works as a construction manager
***Ames Brown – an Ivy League grad who works in finance in NY.
