I’ve got some new and interesting game finds for you all to marvel at! I have been to, I guess you would call it, a discount clothing store and found a Halo board game, that didn’t really look fun, so I passed on it. But this Gears of War board game seems to be promising. For a listed price of $79.99, it sure better be Epic! Okay, no more puns, but seriously, it’s the same price as the Gears of War 3 Limited Edition.
The description given by Fantasy Flight Games reads:
This fully cooperative design by Corey Konieczka pits 1–4 players against a cunning and relentless foe, and is based on the wildly popular series of third-person shooters by Epic Games.
Build your team from any of four COG soldiers and face an intelligent game system in one of seven randomly constructed scenarios. In Gears of War: The Board Game, you’ll relive classic moments from Gears of War™ and Gears of War 2™. Roadie Run into cover, spray your enemy with blind fire, or rip him in half with your Lancer’s chainsaw!
The seven included missions deliver a range of objectives, from placing a sonic resonator deep in the Locust-infested earth to escaping the attack of a raging Berserker. What’s more, each mission is randomly constructed every time you play, using an ingenious map creation system to ensure that no two games are ever exactly alike.
I’m sure Gears collector’s will be more than happy to fork out the $79.99.
Next on the list is definitely a console collector’s dream! I picked up a Neo Geo for Gusto for either Father’s Day or his birthday a couple years back, and he was a happy camper. He was like a kid on Christmas morning.
This Neo Geo that is made out of 100% walnut is super sexy! It makes the novel-sized game cartridges look like a mere accessory to the system, rather than a game. The site that has them up for sale, Analogue Interactive, explains that the original Neo Geo has “sharp or rigid edge that will scuff, cut, and damage your cartridges.” They further explain that the flexible durability that wood offers allowed them to “fine tune the cartridge slot to function as smoothly as possible.” They have also included real working dust flaps.
The walnut Neo Geo goes for $649. For those of you who have looked into purchasing a Neo Geo that was in good shape, knows that they are not cheap. This walnut one is just gorgeous.
James Terry of Darkuncle Custom Gaming has created this Xbox 360 Slim laptop, that can be seen in the images below. The system laptop measures to be 2.5″ thick, 14.25″ long and 9.75″ deep. You can see in the video to the left just how compact it looks.
The power button, 10-watt amplifier and built-in stereo speakers are on the top (where you would normally find a keyboard on a regular laptop), with all the ports on the back. While the power brick is still needed, the laptop weighs in at about 9 pounds. It features an LCD screen and three fans, to prevent overheating.
He will be selling them for $2250 over at darkunclecustomgaming.com.
