Sitting in the top row at the “Survivor: Redemption Island” reunion show is new for Russell Hantz, but that didn’t stop the ultimate reality TV alpha male from showing some respect to Boston Rob.
When Jeff Probst turned the conversation towards Russell, Hantz opted to stand up, reach out, and shake Boston Rob’s hand in appreciation. And Rob accepted.
Still, Russell is a competitor. Despite Boston Rob’s win, Russell believes he’s the best “Survivor” contestant to ever play the game. Is there any chance Hantz would ever return to “Survivor” for his fourth shot at winning the $1 million?
“You get so emotionally involved, especially after playing three times,” Russell said on the reunion show. “It’s a piece of me, it’s a part of me … It’s so ingrained in me.”
Probst didn’t like Russell dancing around the question, so he was blunt: Should another “Survivor” season come along that requires a former contestant to return, should “Survivor” executives throw away Russell’s number or keep it?
“Just keep my number,” Russell told Jeff with a smile.
Stay tuned for more “Survivor: Redemption Island” quotes from the reunion show, including some very eye-opening ones by Phillip “The Specialist” Sheppard.
In Boston, “Survivor” aired on CBS at 8 pm eastern.
