The time span between late this past Friday night and early this Saturday morning served to be full of violence in various locations around the city. Nine people were injured due to shootings and violence. Police are still searching for suspects in all of the overnight shootings.
The first shooting occurred in the neighborhood of North Lawndale at around 11:40pm. The victim was a 28-year-old woman. She was shot on the 1800 block of South Albany Avenue in her back. Immediately transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, she was listed in serious condition. Harrison Area Detectives are searching for leads.
The second shooting occurred on the 7600 block of South May Street at approximately midnight. Police report that the victim was a 21-year-old man. He remains in critical condition. The bullet entered his stomach and he was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center. Calumet City Police Department is investigating the shooting.
About ten minutes later, police reported that an 18-year-old man was shot in the leg on the 3000 block of West 53rd Street. He was also taken to Mount Sinai hospital and is currently listed in stable condition. Wentworth Area investigators are searching for suspects.
At around 1:28am, another 21-year-old man was also shot in the chest. This shooting occurred on the Northwest side of Chicago on the 4400 block of North Monticello Avenue, police report. The victim was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and is listed in serious condition. Grand Central Area Detectives are searching for any leads.
Shortly after, at around 1:39am, another shooting was discovered. The victim was a 25-year-old man. Police say he suffered a gunshot wound to his leg on the 5400 block of South Halsted Street. He was transported to Provident Hospital in Cook County and is now listed in good condition. Wentworth Area investigators are searching for suspects.
About ten minutes after the shooting on South Halsted, another shot rang out as an 18-year-old man was shot in the leg on the 100 block of North Pine Avenue. He was taken to West Suburban Medical Center in stable condition. Grand Central Area Detectives are investigating.
Sure enough, another male was shot in the leg. This time it occurred around 1:57am on the 6500 block of South Washtenaw Avenue. Police have yet to say the age of the victim, but he was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition. Wentworth Area Police are searching for suspects.
The last shooting occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning at around 4:16am. Little is known about the victims and the injuries they sustained, but police say the shooting occurred at 4644 South Fairfield Avenue and one man of unknown age suffered a bullet graze wound to his head. The other victim is listed to be in his mid-20s and sustained a head wound. He was sent to Mount Sinai Hospital, local police report.
Overall, last night was very scary for all Chicagoans that were near these shootings.
