1. Something, typically money, that is owed or due.
2. The state of owing money.
It seems as if we all owe somebody something sooner or later. Wether it is conisidental or not depends upon the curcustances, yet if you are trying to live by the standard set today, chances are you have bills to pay and promises to keep. Are we no longer able to afford to live the American dream. When you turn on your television, open your mailbox, or long online, you have someone trying to sell you something that you don’t need. If you think about it, we don’t need most of the things we consider important to us. Had we been born into a world that was filled with nothing other than nature, we would still be in touch with the magic and spirituality of mother earth. Our minds are focused on material possessions instead of preserving the environment for future generations.
It seems as though having to provide for mass populations has led us to destroy the ecosystem. We have cut down forests and replaced them with our own view of the world. To think that any of us are successful would be naive. Maybe a small percentage of the people here on earth can say they are rich, yet they can not say that they have bettered the standard of living for the people. Whenever someone comes along and wants to lead the people because of their passion for what is right, they just disappear and we go right back to waging war and sinning. Whenever a politician speaks about the poverty in the world, all that comes to mind is, the rich get richer while the poor get poorer. All we need is healthy food and clean water, everything else is just a manifestation of other people’s business idea. Either way nothing is free of charge at the end of the day. What makes a person spend their entire lives in search of money? When do people give up on themselves and mother nature? Is it once they realize they are going to die despite what they believe? Maybe the point in living is to provide for yourself and be happy while doing so. If that requires us to collect pieces of paper with numbers on them to pay off what we owe, then so be it. What choice do we have in the matter? Who can afford to waste time when it should be spent wisely.
”All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.”
