It is incomprehensible to the logical mind how the democrat politicians can continue to distort and misrepresent the healthcare issue, while maintaining the support of a majority of senior citizens, as they perform this political sleight of hand. Strip away all the political jargon and downright lies and one stark fact stands out; Obamacare, over ten years, will cut 500 billion dollars out of the Medicare program. To keep their coverage at current levels, seniors will have to make up for the “loss” in benefits. This is an immutable fact of life under Obamacare and everything put forth by truth-twisting democrat politicians about how the Republican proposals to cut spending will somehow spell the end of Medicare, is just unadulterated BALONEY! It is the democrats’ plan of doing nothing to fix the deficits caused by their spending spree that is guaranteed to “kill” Medicare, as the government simply will not have enough funds to continue subsidizing the program. The biggest hypocrit of the D.C. crowd is Nancy Pelosi, who as majority leader of the house, rammed Obamacare through (with all its cuts and increased taxes) and who now “bemoans” that Republicans want to make cuts that democrats claim will end the program! As always, the democrats want it both ways; they voted to cut 50 billion dollars a year, for ten years, from Medicare to allow them to insure illegal aliens and otherwise solvent individuals in the system, while at the sametime blaming Republicans for “killing” the program because they, the Republicans, want to cut government spending!
The democrats’ goal is that their “do nothing” policy will let Medicare crash and burn, counting on seniors to then demand that the government (as always) do what is necessary to fund the healthcare system. The “fix” will be the single-payer plan favored by President Obama and his socialist, progressive allies. Their answer to every social problem is more government control of our lives. A single-payer plan (universal healthcare) administered by the Federal Bureaucracy, will of necessity mean higher costs to recipients with scaled back service (rationing), based on the Canadian and British models, which envisions that “older” (expendable) patients who require much higher levels of care, will be forced to accept lower standards of service and will “wait in line” to get them.
Most rational people do not understand why seniors cannot or will not accept this reality; why they refuse to join with the Republicans in demanding that Congress do something to address spending problems, rather then selfishly whinning about “perceived” cuts that will end Medicare “as we know it.” Seniors, like the rest of the population, need to wake up to the fact we’re all in this mess together; we sink or swim together or we all sink separately! Everyone has to sacrifice and no one group can be immune from the treatment necessary to cure us of our addiction to government handouts, paid for by borrowing from foreigners, who are quite prepared to “pull the plug” on our profligate life style, whenever it suits their purpose or self-interests to do so. Seniors have to “get in the game” and stop demanding that their “sacred cows” be protected from the economic train wreck fast approaching this nation! There is nothing “sacred” in one group of people remaining untouched, to the detriment, of all other groups and the eventual collapse of the U.S. economy.
