Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery are American Idol’s Top 2 finalists competed in the final performance show. 16-year-old Alaina and 17-year-old McCreery are the youngest contestants ever to battle it out in the finale from Nokia Theatre L.A. Here is the show recap.
Ryan introduced them.
Lauren lets every one know that she is here and ready to sign and is fine. The doctor comes out to explain that during the rehearsal, she blew out one of her vocal chords, but they gave her a lot of medicines and she will sing. They each sing three times.
First is the contestant’s pick:
Scotty McCreery performs the song “Gone” by Montgomery
Lauren Alaina performs“Flat on the Floor” by Carrie Underwood
Round 2 is their hereos picks:
George Strait choses his song “Check Yes or No” for Scotty. Scotty play guitar.
Carrie Underwood choses the song “Maybe it Was Memphis” by Pam Tillis for Laura Aliana.
The judges then speak about the first two rounds.
Randy says that these are the two that everyone has picked and it is hard, so it so even. They are both incredible. He adds that Scotty’s reprisal of “Gone” was brilliant and singing George Strait was really good as well. He also adds that he liked both if Lauren’s songs but he gives Scotty the slight edge for Round 1 and picks Lauren for Round 2.
Jennifer says that it was such an explosive start for both of them. She adds that “Gone” was such a great start , she liked it better than his second song so she gives Scotty the first round and Lauren the second.
Steven says that he gives the 1st round and the 2nd round to Lauren because she’s prettier than Scotty.
Taio Cruz takes the stage and performs “Positive”. The song was written by vote by the Idol audience from the AmericanIdol.com. website.
Round 3 is the song that will be the first singles for Scotty and Lauren Aliana.
Scotty McCreery performs “I Love You This Big”.
Jimmy Iovine explains that they had to find the right song for the final, but also a good song for his first single. The song is a ballad and Scotty dresses in a suit.
Randy says that he is just marveling that we have the two youngest finalist ever and that their both from the country genre. The range was great, he sung it low and he sang it high.
Jennifer says that he is a great story teller and did an amazing job.
Steven says that he has comea long way. He take chances, ran with it and got it.
Lauren Alaina performs “Like My Mother Does”.
Jimmy Iovine says that the lyrics really captures her journey as it is an ode to her mom and that moms every where will love it.
Randy says that it is a great ode to her mom and was amazing
Jennifer says that it was beautiful.
Steven said that she just gave it up to her momand she is an Idol in his eyes.
Randy gives the final song to Lauren. Jennifer won’t pick which one but says it is close. Steven gives this round to Lauren.
To close out the show Season 7 winner David Cook performs “Don’t You Forget About Me”, the goodbye song for this season.
Wednesday’s results show is advertised as the momentous conclusion of the celebrated 10th season where only one finalist will be crowned the next American Idol on the two-hour season finale at 8PM. The finale and concert spectacular will feature special performances, surprise guests and a Top 13 reunion before America’s vote is revealed.
