Rudi’s Gluten-Free Bakery has chosen the top ten finalists in their Unbelievably Good Gluten-Free Recipe Contest! These 10 winners will now move into the next round of judging. The 10 winners will receive a $250 gift certificate to Williams Sonoma and a “swag bag” full of Rudi’s goodies.
There were 85 original recipes in the contest, which started on April 18 and ran through June 6. The contestants were required to submit an original GF recipe on Rudi’s GF facebook page. Recipes fell into 5 categories; breakfast, desserts, entrees, sides and snacks. Each submission included details of the ingredients, with preparation requirements. Every entry also had to include some background information about the entrant, and a short story on the importance of cooking gluten-free.
Voting for the recipes only took place through Facebook users. Each participant, including other voters, was allowed to vote one time each day per recipe. The 10 recipes with the highest number of votes qualify to go into the next phase of the contest.

Elizabeth DeHart, 776 votes, Rudi’s Easy Caprese Sammy

Next, there will be 3 contestants selected from the top ten. The criteria judged will be;
- Gluten free story
- Taste appeal
- Creativity of recipe
- Visual appeal Each category is 10 points for a total of 40.
The 3 winners (with a guest) will be flown to Boulder Colorado where they will prepare their recipe in front of a panel of judges; the contestant with the highest overall score will be the Final Winner.
Each of the 3 contestants will be awarded $500, and everything included in the trip will be paid for. The Final Winner will be featured in an all expense paid, video shoot for Alternative Appetites cooking show with Renegade Kitchen and the recipe will be featured in a national media outlet!
