The Frisco RoughRiders winning streak of their last homestand may seem a long way away now.
Jacob Brigham failed to get out of the second inning Sunday, and San Antonio never looked back in a 6-2 win at Nelson Wolff Stadium.
With their third straight win in the series, the Missions increased their lead to eight games over Frsco in the Texas League South.
San Antonio chased Brigham with a five-run second inning, as Brigham walked the bases loaded and then gave up a two-run single to Daniel Robertson and an RBI double to Blake Tekotte. Chris Mobley replaced Brigham after another bases loaded walk and proceeded to hit Kyle Blanks for another run and walk James Darnell for one more.
Frisco had taken a 1-0 lead in the top of that inning, as Jose Ruiz led off with a walk, stole second and scored on Davis Stoneburner’s hit. They tried for another run in the third, but Tommy Mendonca was thrown out at home on Michael Bianucci’s double.
Mobley put runners on first and third in the fourth inning and was pulled for Adelberto Flores, who threw a wild pitch to score Blanks.
Frisco, meanwhile, was unable to do any more damage off the five hits and three walks they got off Jorge Reyes. The Riders Finally got another run off Joshua Spence in the seventh when Guilder Rodriguez doubled and Leonys Martin tripled.
The Riders and Missions will complete their four-game series Monday.
