If you’re into old school thrash and twisted death metal, then get ready for a show that will bring a variety of southern rock bands together for one night. Rowdy Productionz presents: Revocation, Goatwhore, Scabus, 4Mag Nitrous and Southbound Shadow on Friday, July 8 at Kirks Bizzar in Gulf Port, MS.
Headlining the show is the black metal band from New Orleans, Goatwhore, who is currently signed by Metalblade Records. The band was formed in 1997 by Guitarist Sammy Duet following the break up of his previous band Acid Bath. To fully appreciate this stimulating band, one must know the history behind their struggles from the floods produced by Hurricane Katrina and the near fatal car crash that left vocalist Ben Falgoust temporarily confined to a wheel chair. Their run of bad luck was actually the beginning of an outstanding career. After gaining new ground, their success was maintained by staying true to their roots.
Goatwhore is now one of the biggest death metal bands from the Gulf Coast, representing the eerie essence of New Orleans haunted cities, legends of ghost, curses, and practices of voodoo that makes New Orleans so mysterious.
Revocation is from Boston, MA and is currently making their North American 2011 tour this summer promoting their new album, “Chaos of Forms”. According to Masterful Magazine, Revocation is “Taking the excellent dynamics of Pestilence with the visceral intensity of Sepultura and the technical prowess of Carcass combined with shredding extensive leads and solos; Revocation is a band that is going places.” In 2008 they self-released their first full length album, “Empire of the Obscene” and in 2009 signed on with Relapse Records, releasing their second album, “Existence is Futile”. Since the release of their first album, they have toured the U.S with bands such as Moonspell, and The Black Dahalia Murders. Revocation also held shows in Canada with bands such as Neuraxis and The Last Felony. By September of 2009,” Existence is Futile” went international allowing the band to do a three city tour in Japan. Revocation has been featured as one of the ten artists to watch in 2010 in the Jan. and Feb. issue of Spin Magazine. They recently kicked off a five week North American tour and is working their way to California. One of the many stops on this tour will bring them to the Mississippi Gulf Coast where they will join forces with Goatwhore, Scabus, 4Mag Nitrous and Southbound Shadow.
Formed in 2000, 4Mag Nitrous, a southern outlaw metal band has been reviewed by many to be the “most underrated and un-signed band in the south”. They consider themselves to be high humidity metal and they are based out of New Orleans. In 2005 they debuted their first album and has had their heavy rock/metal music featured on The Discovery Channel’s series Monster Garage, along with A&E’s Dog the Bounty Hunter. They have performed on national syndicated music television shows such as Louisiana Jukebox and SXSW Music Showcase. In 2010 4Mag Nitrous released their second album,” Southern Wisdom & Know-How” and in the same year signed on with Lionsgate Films to license music in six upcoming films.
Scabus is a fairly new band based out of Gulfport, MS who is known for thrashin’ n smashin’ in your face. Southbound Shadow is another band just getting started who’s deep south groove metal genre appeals to a wide variety of rock lovers.
“We are looking forward to one of our biggest shows at Kirks Bizzar. Goatwhore has played here in the past and just packed out the house.
