New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush has been under much scrutiny ever since he tweeted his goodbyes to New Orleans on the night of the 2011 NFL Draft. After the Saints selected Mark Ingram in the first round, it appeared as if Bush thought his time was done in the Big Easy.
Now it seems as if he is changing his tune.
After tweeting, “It’s been fun New Orleans” on draft night, many fans thought it could have meant many things but everyone realized that he was not happy with the Saints’ selection. Honestly, Bush wasn’t happy but now he says he regrets what he has done and said while also being ok with Ingram coming to the team. He spoke on Saturday morning at his football camp for kids.
“I think Ingram is a great player and he’s going to be a great player in this league and he’s going to have a huge impact with the Saints and that’s really it,” Bush said. “I don’t know how much it impacts my decision because we haven’t come to the table yet, we haven’t sat down yet.”
The two have a lot in common actually as they are both great running backs and both won the Heisman Trophy at the position while in college. Bush said that he has spoken with Ingram and wants the rookie to enjoy his new career, but hopes he can do so soon.
“It just sucks he has to deal with this lockout right away.
“He’s worked hard to get here and he deserves to be here,” Bush added.
Considering what Bush dealt with back in 2006 when being selected the number two pick in the draft overall, there are similarities to the situation now. The main man in town then was Deuce McAllister and in came this scat back from USC. Now Bush knows he has a prominent position in New Orleans and in comes Ingram, but that only means they have more in common.
“Of course things can be shared,” he said. “If anybody know about sharing it’s me – I’ve been doing it my whole career. So I welcome him with open arms.”
The season will certainly be interesting once it is finally able to get off the ground. As the Saints work out on their own, the team appears to be poised and ready for another championship run.
