West Union, Ohio – Ramblin Relics of Southern Ohio will be showcasing their 38th year of classic cars and vehicles in West Union, Ohio, at their “Country Run for Fun” car show. This annual event showcases the greatest street rods and hot rods around. The 2011 two day community event will be at the Adams County Fairgrounds in West Union, Ohio, on Saturday, June 25, and Sunday, June 26.
Country Run for Fun activities begins on Saturday with a cruise through the local Amish Community in Wheat Ridge, a cruise to Peebles, Ohio, to view the Mopar Collection of Bob and Sharon Malcom, a chicken dinner and an evening Poker Run.
The third annual “Saturday Night on the Square” is back on the “Saturday Night on the Square” held on the Adams County Courthouse Square in downtown West Union, Ohio, at the intersection of State Route 41 and State Route 247. The days events wrap up with the evening Cruise In and a concert featuring country music entertainment “David James and The Gang”. The Cruise In begins at 7 p.m. along with a performance by Fancy Free Cloggers. At 8 p.m. the concert begins at 8 p.m. on the lawn of the Courthouse Square, bring your own chair and mingle with country folks at this fun event. Refreshments will be available. In case of inclement weather, Saturday Night on the Square will be cancelled.
Sunday’s Country Run for Fun events will move a few blocks away to the Adams County Fairgrounds for the 38th annual Ramblin Relics car show. Admission gates to this event will open at 8 a.m. The event features an estimated 200 plus street rods, muscle cars, custom trucks and other specialty vehicles many from other states. Spectators are welcome for a small admission charge with profits used to fund the Ramblin Relics annual scholarship fund and local charitable donations.
“Ramblin Relics car club will recognize the top 25 vehicles in attendance as well as several specialty award winners. A Grand Prize of $500 in merchandise from Danny’s Rod Shop, Somerset, Ky., or $300 cash will be awarded, by random drawing, to a registered participant in attendance,” according to representative Rick Crawford.
Come early and enjoy non-denominational church services and singing by local gospel singer (and county commissioner) Jason Cooper at 10:30 a.m. Traditional Country Run for Fun has a large line-up of games for adults and children starting at 11:30 a.m. Enjoy some unique car inspired games such as the fan belt toss; the lifter drop; or water balloon toss; and the very popular and funny adult tricycle race and creeper race.
The Good Time Cloggers will perform at 1:30 p.m. Their will be other fun activities such as a children’s coloring contest; NSRA safety inspections; and a split the pot drawing throughout the day. Food will be available on the grounds. The Country Run for Fun concludes following the award presentations and grand prize drawing at 3:30 p.m.
