May 11, 2011 – In a surprising elimination on Tuesday night’s Dancing With the Stars, Romeo was sent home, while bottom of the leaderboard resident Ralph Macchio made it through another week.
While Romeo and his pro-dance partner, Chelsie Hightower, were next to last on the scoreboard after their Monday performances, Ralph and Karina Smirnoff were way below them with only 46 points out of 50.
But, it seems as if the viewers heavily rallied behind Ralph after he bravely performed after suffering a very painful ruptured knee cyst. While his dance technique suffered greatly due to pain and lack of rehearsal time, the judges praised Ralph for having the courage to come out and dance.

Ralph even got a standing ovation from the judges and audience after he completed both dance performances required on Monday night’s show.
“I really admire you for getting out there.” Judge Carrie Ann Inaba told Ralph, while Bruno Tonioli commanded him by saying, “it’s astonishing how you managed to do what you did, with your injury!”
Ralph told host Brooke Burke that, “it can’t end this way,” and added that he and Karina have yet so much to offer in terms of performing.

Although their instant-dance cha-cha performance visibly suffered, Ralph and Karina did an amazing job with their waltz and managed to get two 8’s and a 9 from Bruno. Even with the knee injury and hardly any time to practice, Ralph danced surprisingly well and did his steps quite amazingly.
Meanwhile, Romeo was surprised at his elimination, but took it in stride. He and Chelsie had 53 points and were second from last.
“I’m surprised because I did my best dances, but at the same time I’m not surprised. This show has changed my life forever,” he said during his farewell speech, “I didn’t dance at my own prom. I’ve turned down a lot of movies because I was afraid to dance.”

The R&B singer made huge progress with his dancing and said DWTS changed how he looks at life. Romeo also said that his dad called early Tuesday and told him he was proud of him no matter if he got eliminated.
“He called me and gave me a speech about how proud of me he is no matter what the outcome of tonight is.” Romeo told reporters on Tuesday, “[He said], ‘You’re a winner. Nobody expected you to come this far.’ “
Romeo’s dad, Percy Miller, aka rapper Master P, was also on DWTS, but didn’t get nearly as far as his son did.
