In today’s Tampa Tribune Pat Kemp, former chairman of the local Democratic Party said, “Race has colored our whole history, it’s deeply ingrained in who we are – that hasn’t just all disappeared.”
Thank you Pat for that fortune cookie wisdom. Maybe that tiny minority of people out there who thought that racism did not exist are now educated. Maybe that will help Latinos forget that you ran against a Latino in a Latino district during the last election cycle.Racism didn’t play any part in that decision did it?
Listening to liberals lecture on racism is like listening to Nazis lecture on gun control. It just seems to lack credibility. For liberals, talking about ending racism is more easy than ending it in one’s heart and mind.
Racism is not a one way street and plenty of liberals have shown their true colors in that department. Jesse Jackson once called New York “hymie town” in reference to its large Jewish population. Al Sharpton once referred to Jews as “diamond merchants” who need to “pin their yarmulkes back and come to my house.”
Who can forget Harry Reid’s comment that Obama could become president because he was “light skinned” and had no Negro dialect? Who can forget Geraldine Ferraro’s comment that Obama would not be where his is if not for the color of his skin?
Now let’s look at the Tea Party, the activist group that is always attacked by liberals as being racist. During the last election cycle they supported Alan West and Janet Contreras for Congress and Marco Rubio for the U.S Senate. In all, a total of 38 black Republicans were supported by the tea party in 2010. For the Presidential Election of 2012, many tea party activists are showing support for Herman Cain, a business owner and african american. County Commissioner Mark Sharpe was correct in the article for pointing out that the right wing are not motivated by race, but by ideology.
For many of us on the right side of the aisle this is basic common sense that doesn’t require a comprehensive study. If you agree with the basic principles of less taxes, less government regulations, and more individual freedom then you are welcome in the Republican Party and the Tea Party movement. Race doesn’t mean anything and anyone saying differently is just plain lying.
What this is really all about is liberals trying to make Americans forget about the poor job that this president has done in his time in office. It’s what is termed “Bait and Switch.” Make race the issue and maybe Americans will forget that unemployment claims are at their highest level since last summer, the federal budget deficit is at $1.5 trillion, and that the Obama recovery efforts have been a total failure. It’s not going to work and no amount of bait and switching from the liberal movement is going to change that.
