As of May 2011, wikipedia credits the X-Men franchise as one of the reasons that the superhero reemerged in the 2000s. With characters with interesting realistic empathizing stories and plot with social commentary, who did not see this coming? The success of the 90s cartoon series justified the budget for influenced, and inspired the film. Also, X-Men: First Class was great to have back after the great loss of Wolverine and the X-Men, a X-Men fans equivalent to Browncoats losing the Firefly franchise. X-Men: First Class will hopefully be a new beginning for the X-Men movie franchise.
Who is not a sucker for this plot? Magneto and Professor Xavier when they were younger? As allies together? Remembering the rumors of X-Men Origins: Magneto, how did a man who used to work with a humanitarian such as Professor X become a megalomaniacal science fiction Hitler? Like seeing the Minutemen before watching the Watchmen. Like watching the interesting spin on X-2 again. This story could be the Citizen Kane of the X-Men franchise with Magneto in the role of fallen humanitarian.
An X-Men film without Scott Summers? Upsetting to X-Men fandom after the lack of Cyclops in the X-Men films while keeping him leader in this continuity. However, perhaps there will be a big surprise in the movie as there is Havoc aka Alex Summers. Although he actually not going to be the older brother in this continuity, Bryan Singer promised some surprises, possibly nods to comic book continuity. If worse, and nothing comes of that, we can just say that we are not missing much.
An X-Men movie without Wolverine: Yay, for those of us who are sick of his over exposure lacking stories with the excuse being, he has amnesia.
No X-film has done poorly in the Box Office so far. I am predicting that this film will be no different as with so many characters on the screen, the film always causes the audience to want more. X-Men consists of MANY interesting characters that rarely ever get proper screen time anyway. A remedy for this:
X-Men III: First Draft of Last Stand: The movie brings back fan favorite X-Men director Bryan Singer back as producer after being missing in X-3 and “Origins: Wolverine” as well as his original idea of introducing the Hellfire Club and bringing in X-Men: Last Stand fan favorite choice for director Matthew Vaughn. After so many years of using Magneto, will the Hellfire’s club be strong enough villains for X-Men: First Class?
Matthew Vaughn of Kick-Ass fame as director after missing the opportunity in X-3. The choice of Chloe Moretz for memorable role as supporting actress in Kick-Ass. Bryan Singer
Recent Academy Award nominee Jennifer Lawrence will be portraying a younger Mystique.
And of course, Kevin Bacon.
X-Men: First Class will be released in theatres June 3.
