With Disneyland’s recent reopening of Star Tours this week, park guests will be able to “board a Starspeeder 1000 for a thrilling journey through George Lucas’ Star Wars universe,” states Disneyland.com.
The attraction’s description on the Star Tours ride attraction page also claims guests will have the opportunity to:
“Glide among the trees with Wookiees on Kashyyyk, kick up some desert sand in a podrace on Tatooine, dive into the lakes of Naboo, weave through the bustling city-planet of Coruscant, blast through the blizzards of Hoth or even help attack the heavily defended Death Star!”
But the only problem is what if you don’t like Star Wars?
Whether you would like to be inspired, impress a special Star Wars fan in your life or better appreciate Disney’s latest Star Tours improvement, here’s how you can fall in love with Star Wars in 5 easy steps.
#1 Jedi Mind Trick Yourself: Take any negativity you’ve heard about Star Wars and turn it into a positive. For example, if you recall a friend saying “I hate all the CG (computer graphics) they used in Episode I,” tell yourself “I am open to determining my own opinion about the CG usage in Episode I.”
#2 Use The Force: Force yourself to get access to the complete Star Wars DVD collection via friends, families, Netflix, etc., and create a schedule for watching each one over a period of no more than two weeks. While Star Wars critics may disagree, I recommend watching the films in the original order they were released in theatres – then watch the whole series again in their numerical order. To find out which order works for you, I would recommend checking out Greedo’s Fan Pop article “The Best Viewing Order for a Star Wars Movie Marathon.”
#3 Create Your Own Galactic Senate: According to Wookiepedia, in the Star Wars films, the Galactic Senate’s “primary duties were to mediate any disputes between star systems, worlds and cultures, to regulate trade between systems, to protect and care for citizens in need and to provide mutual defense in face of threats to the Republic.” Form your own “Galactic Senate” to protect you from anything interfering with your epic Star Wars marathon. Share your viewing plans/schedule with close family, friends, co-workers and anyone who has a great affinity for the Star Wars movies. Invite them to watch one or two of the movies with you for fun. They can help keep you on track!
#4 Find Your Clone: Keep watching the Star Wars films, until you find a character you can relate to or better yet, is a complete “clone” of yourself. With thousands of characters in 6 different films, finding someone (or something) you can relate to is easy. Once you’ve determined who (or what) your favorite character is, go on a mission to learn more about what makes this character special. Star Wars.com does an excellent job of providing a catagorical index of all the characters, creatures, droids, organizations and species.
If all else fails…
#5 Help me YouTube. You’re my only hope: If you are still unable to enjoy any of the Star Wars films, go on YouTube and check out the variety of Star Wars clips available. Some great options include “Star Tours: Darth Vader goes to Disneyland”, “The Force: Volkswagen Commercial” and practically anything that involves Stormtroopers dancing.
The key component to falling in love with Star Wars is your willingness to embrace the unknown. It’s crucial that when following these steps, you already have an attitude of genuinely wanting to learn more about these incredibly epic films.
