With the recent opening of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the ride located in the Magic Kingdom for which it was named will have lines that rival those in St Louis theaters.
For those who have never experienced this swash buckling ride located in Adventureland, you may not understand the excitement that this movie has brought to the attraction.
When the first movie in the series came out, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, it immediately called attention to the iconic Disney attraction. With the release of the movie, Disney revamped the ride to reflect characters in the movie such as Davy Jones, Barbosa and Captain Jack, immediately repopularizing this withering ride!
But let’s start at the beginning. What exactly do you experience on this ride? It all begins as you snake around the dark corridors of the pirates den where you will come to your boat, which will transport you through dangerous pirate infested waters.
The adventure begins immediately as you find yourself in the dark, heading for a 14 foot waterfall! If you are lucky enough to survive it, you barely have time to catch your breath before you find yourself in a pirate battle to overthrow a humble coastal village!
You will experience first-hand the fear of the townsfolk as the pirates pillage their village for booty.
Listen closely for that famous song … ‘yo-ho, yo-ho a pirate’s life’s for me …’; you may just hear it from the lips of a pirate … or two as they indulge themselves with no regret, as only a pirate can!
As always Captain Jack is on the prowl for his lost treasure map! See if you can find him hiding throughout the village and if you can spot the references to this attraction as seen in The Curse of the Black Pearl!
This ride has always been a favorite, but since the release of the movies its popularity soared. A fast pass is strongly recommended for this ride, although the line does move quickly as the boats are constant loaders.
Remember! “Dead men tell no tales.”
