The Family Peace Center (FPC) offers crisis and on-going intervention for adults and children in order to provide peace to Hawaii’s families by offering safety, support, empowerment and accountability to survivors, offenders, and child witnesses to domestic violence.
The three FPC program components are :
The Pu’uhonua Victim/Survivor Family Component which serves survivors of domestic violence through the Pu’uhonua Domestic Violence Crisis Counseling line (808-585-7944) as well as case advocacy and group counseling;
The Kuleana Offenders Component which works with offenders of intimate partner violence as well as offenders of household or non-partner abuse ; and
The Haupoa Family Component which works with children who have witnessed domestic violence in the family. The Keiki Safe Project of the Family Peace Center provides school-based counseling for children exposed to domestic violence at public and private schools throughout Oahu.
Family Peace Center has culturally-specific services for adults and is one of the few programs in the state to offer a culturally based domestic violence group model for Native Hawaiian women and men, called “Namelehuapono”. Family Peace center also provides education and intervention services in the schools, along with community education and professional/para-professional training. FPC serves all of Oahu and utilizes off-site facilities around the island to provide services in the communities of East and West Honolulu, Pearl City, Waipahu, Waianae, Kailua, and Kaneohe. Some services are on a sliding fee scale, but no one is denied service based on ability to pay.
