Throughout all of history families have had trials and tribulations to endure in each generation. Sometimes we forget that our ancestors were actual people as well with the same emotions and feelings that we have.
Families have changed over the generations and they have evolved into many different types of families; and perhaps not all of it is good.
There was a time with no television, radio, or other noise in the house, families sat around the dinner table and shared stories and jokes and fun things.
They would sit in the cool of the evening on the front porch and share things of the family history, and the current family news.
Those who lived in those days see a huge difference; and they feel that the “good” ole days, even with their own problems, were just that the “good ole days.”
It is much easier on a family to have the joy of laughter in good times that steels them when the bad times come. There is something inside of us that responds to cute things and funny things; things that touch a place in our hearts; and can provoke a response we don’t always understand. Some things will tickle you; and some things might just bring a smile.
Did you know that laughing is like a good medicine?
Well, you might think that you and your family doesn’t have much to laugh about today with all the worries of politics, uncertainty, disharmony in Washington; and the day to day problems that burden you down.
The Bible says that laughter can be healing. There are different types of comedy and the funniest is when the hearer can identify with the humor. Today there is so much smut, and nasty jokes that it kinda takes away from the good natural humor that we are born with.
To tickle your funny bone, and to stimulate a smile on your face is just as good as a huge belly laugh sometimes. While there are not too many things going on in America today that is truly funny; perhaps taking a non-serious look at ourselves can make us chuckle a little.
Only in America
Only in America …do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.
Only in America …do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries and a diet coke.
Only in America…do banks leave vault doors open and then chain the pens to the counters.
Only in America …do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.
Only in America …do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight.
Only in America ….do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering.
Why the sun lightens our hair, but darkens our skin?
Why can’t women put on mascara with their mouths closed?
Why don’t you ever see the headline ‘Psychic Wins Lottery’?
Why is ‘abbreviated’ such a long word?
Why is it that doctors call what they do ‘practice’?
Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor, and dishwashing liquid made with real lemons?
Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?
Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?
Why isn’t there mouse-flavored cat food?
Why didn’t Noah swat those two mosquitoes?
Why is it that people boil tea to make it hot, put ice in it to make it cold, put sugar in it to make it sweet; and lemon in it to make it sour?
You know that indestructible black box that is used on airplanes? Why don’t they make the whole plane out of that stuff?!
Why don’t sheep shrink when it rains?
Why are they called apart-ments when they are all stuck together?
If flying is so safe, why do they call the airport the terminal

If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of progress?
Scripture that confirms the need for joy and laughter:
A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones Proverbs 17:22
A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken Proverbs 15:13
All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast. Proverbs 15:15
A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. Proverbs 17:22
Now that you’ve smiled at least once, it’s your turn to spread the humor and send this to someone you want to bring a smile to (maybe even a chuckle)…in other words, send it to everyone. We all need to smile.
