Preparing for that dating search: Introduction
Without online (and anytime) dating etiquette, dating has become confusing—to say the least.
Maintaining suitable dating etiquette is crucial to finding that potential long term partner—whether you’re searching for love online, or searching via traditional methods. Sometimes dating can be fun, but sometimes it can be excruciatingly painful.
The philosophy behind dating isn’t as simple as it used to be. Dating used to be viewed as a dinner date laced with decent conversation mixed with a few drinks on the edge of fun; adding moral stability saddled with an occasional compromise and a list of deal breakers for good measure.
Unfortunately, the way it’s probably now viewed more often than not is more along the lines of a 20-minute coffee quickie laced with intermittent amusement—that may or may not venture into a probing 20-question dinner filled with lulls of awkward silence. There may even sometimes be the occasional compromise (on things like going Dutch, or getting ditched).
Basically, unless the date sitting across from you is on the exact same page as you are—the two of you could be flipping page after page for days, weeks, or even months, in the book of utter dating chaos.
There’s nothing wrong with a good book now and then, and even a good movie (especially if it’s as good as Casablanca); but maybe it’s time to get down to some serious dating etiquette.
In this series of ‘Online (and anytime) dating etiquette’ various categories will be covered from online dating profile etiquette; to first date etiquette (including how to get to that second date); how to strike up a conversation and keep it going with that potential partner (or anyone for that matter)—no matter how stunning or shy; and even how to create your own “make it or break it” list for a little assistance in that incessant search of a long term life partner.
Dating doesn’t have to be tumultuous—it should be fun and exciting—and with appropriate dating etiquette guidance, couples can learn some tips on how to date wisely and safely, as well as learn how to sustain a healthy and exciting dating relationship while having fun doing it.
Stay tuned for more dating etiquette and as always, the best of luck in your dating ventures and for goodness sakes, don’t take life too seriously, smile and have some fun.
