No longer can the big dogs of flea and tick protection hold our animals hostage to high prices. Frontline Plus has had it’s patent end and now several other products have taken up the task of getting our pets through the summer with as little discomfort from these tiny creepy crawlies.
I have taken the task of trying out this new product. I have three dogs of varying sizes, the largest a 6-month old puppy who is over 80 lbs. The beginning of June I have replaced their product with the most heavily advertised product to come out, Pet Armor.
FidoPharm, a division of Velcera, manufactures the product. this product contains the same active ingredients as Frontline Plus at a much lesser cost. Seems like every day, several times a day, their ad appears on the local television stations here in Triad of NC.
In the twenty odd days since applied, I have not seen fleas or ticks on any of the dogs, which is basically what I ask of a Flea preventative. The packaging is similar to Frontline Plus, though it seemed easier to open.
Applied the same way as most of these products, if it continues to work as well as all the literature states, it will be a welcome relief to those of us that are starting to feel our dogs costs are far exceeding our own medical costs.
This product has the support of the ASPCA (Animal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) and actress Mandy Moore who was at the launch of the product. She signed the Pet Armor Pledge.
The Walmart here in Burlington, NC sells all sizes for $24 for a 3-month supply (or one month if like me you have three dogs). Walmart and Sam’s throughout the country sell this product. The two located here in Burlington definitely do sell it.
So I will continue to monitor this product and give it one more month trial and will report my findings at that time. I also will provide information on other products that have picked up the Frontline Plus ingredients in their new preventative, though more expensive than the Pet Armor.
