The NASCAR series stops off this weekend in wine country. Sonoma, California and the Infineon Raceway, where Tony Stewart looks to capture his 3rd career win at this road course. Tony Stewart drives the #14 Office Depot Chevy Impala and has a great chance at taking his first checkered flag of the year. South Carolina residents will be watching the race on TNT and Time Warner Cable.
Tony Stewart has proven that he is the new king of the road course. His career stats at the Infineon Raceway are very good: 2 wins, 4 top 5’s and 8 top 10’s. He has an average finish of 9.2. Overall, the road courses have been his best tracks with stats of 7 wins, 11 top 5’s, 18 top 10’s and an average finish of a remarkable 7.3. Tony looks to add another win to his total of 39 career victories and help climb up the point’s ladder.
With the new point system, wins are a must to stay in the top 12. For instance, if you finish the first 26 races in 12th place, but have no wins, another driver who could be in 25th position with one win can take your place in the chase for the championship. Many people feel that this is unfair because of some of the races that are held can be won by anyone, including a rookie like Trevor Bayne at the Daytona 500.
