When a spacecraft appears over Los Angeles 70 years after an initial failed invasion, a small group of would be fighters band together to try and save the human race. With spandex Karla leading the group of alien fighting commandos, the group uses every weapon at this disposal in this remake of the recently released blockbuster film.
Nia Peeples (Karla), Kel Mitchell (Laughlin), Dylan Vox (Pete), Gerald Webb (Newman), Theresa June Tao (Solano), Tim Abell (Macon), Robert Daniel (Wakes), Darin Cooper (Hadron), Edward DeRuiter (Arnstead).
Thanks to Asylum Studios with Battle of Los Angeles we have another crummy remake of a blockbuster film. As with most Asylum pictures, this one starts without much background or plot setup before jumping into the lame sets and ridiculous special effects. Slap in a few actors who don’t really have a clue what they are doing and poof, you have a film. The only thing Battle of Los Angeles does well is to remind us not to watch Asylum pictures if we want actual entertainment.
Acting was a nightmare from everyone, including Peeples. There were a few bright moments of talent which were quickly extinguished.
Technical quality is poor from just about every aspect. The parts that weren’t bad were only good until the mess they called special effects took over and ruined them. Sets and backgrounds were bargain basement in appearance and obviously didn’t receive much attention at all. Dialogue was either over the top or campy but always inconsistent. Sound was mediocre at best.
Overall Battle of Los Angeles is a waste of time from just about every aspect. Those who find perverse pleasure in Asylum’s horrible cheap knock-off reproductions may enjoy this while everyone else will beg to have 90 minutes of their life returned.
With horrible special effects, acting, and overall quality teens and above should be fine being bored to tears by this one.
Battle of Los Angeles is thankfully not showing in any Littleton Colorado movie theatres.
