I don’t know where you were last Sunday night, but it was a spectacular spring night at my parents’ home. The moon was coming out, while Cliff Lee was piecing together another quality start. When out of nowhere thousands of Philadelphia Phillies began chanting “USA, USA, USA!!!”
Confusion began to set in as I started to wonder why I would hear such a sound coming from my television and Citizens Bank Park. Shortly after this my sister ran down the stairs to inform me of the news. “Osama bin Laden is dead! Osama bin Laden is dead!” I quickly turned on CNN to confirm that the man who made me question American Superiority as a child was dead. A childhood friend of mine would later compare the death of bin Laden to the death of Lord Voldemort (the villain in the Harry Potter series). For my generation this comparison is appropriate. For the day this bearded boogieman named bin Laden entered our lives we knew life would never be the same. Unbeknownst to us the first large struggle in post communism era had begun.
In the aftermath of Osama bin Laden’s assassination we find many in the liberal community desperately trying to hold up their worldview by praising the operation and its conclusion by attributing it entirely to President Barack Obama. President Obama does deserve credit for executing this risky mission successfully. However, the left continues its deliberate duplicity efforts to understate President Bush’s contributions of rebuilding our nation’s intelligence community. This sick obsession can only make me smile because it shows that two and half years out of office those same latte liberals are still in a strong state of indignation over Bush.
The left has said nothing about Obama’s decision to dismiss Pakistan’s sovereignty and conduct a military operation in that country against their knowledge and against their will. Could you imagine what the left would have said if Bush did the same thing? If Bush would have overseen this operation the left would have gone postal, but because it was one of their own they support it without any hesitation. Most Americans don’t care who is in office, they support it because it was the right thing to do at the time.
With the ongoing Libyan conflict America has successfully invaded its third Arab-Muslim nation. This occurred without the slightest peep from liberals who defended Obama’s outrageous intervention position by returning again to that good old DNC talking point “it is of great moral concern”. With the lefts defense of Obama’s policy in Libya they are compromising their own morals. What liberals are making abundantly clear is that not all wars are morally reprehensible, just the ones started by people with an R next to their name.
