You were designed for a great purpose. You are not here by accident, at this time, or in this moment. If you’re reading this, there is a reason.
In life there are no coincidences for everything happens for a purpose. Every moment in life teaches, deepens, or exists, to grow your faith. For every person alive or dead has come into this world for a specific reason, to make a difference.
History teaches the great impact of the lives of which great leaders are remembered. Great teachers are remembered by their teaching. Great artists are remembered by their paintings. How do you want to be remembered? What will be your legacy?
Many people create bucket lists. Whether or not you keep a running tab of things to do, most people desire to make a difference. In many ways you make an impact at work, at home and in the circle of friends you keep. While most people won’t be written in the history books or have their name on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame, their lives still matter.
For the life you lead teaches those around you many things. Maya Angelou once said, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
What are you doing today to impact the lives around you? Are you lifting spirits? Are you reaching out to lend a hand?
This weekend over 200 volunteers are building a new playground for the children in Berwyn. Lending a hand to contribute to their neighborhood, KaBOOM in partnership with Disney is making a difference in the future of these children.
To pay it forward is to give back what someone else has done for you. Have you received kindness from a stranger? Pay it forward. Recently Bono from U2 was spotted hitchhiking. In an unplanned event, Bono and his assistant were on a walk when it started to rain. A couple spotted the two, recognizing the popular singer, gave them a ride. Bono returned the favor giving tickets and backstage passes to his concert in Edmonton.
All the things you do to make a difference in someone else’s life will not go unrewarded. Are you raising your children to respect others? Are you caring for your elderly parents? All of these things are little ways which make great impact. People are watching to see how you’ll react in times of stress. What message are you sending?
For in the long run, after you are gone, the shadow you leave will be the one people remember. Live your life so people will celebrate you for being a part of theirs.
Do something today, for there’s no promise of tomorrow. Make a difference in this way; you are doing your part. You are leaving a legacy.
