It was merely a matter of time before the force of nature known as Lady Gaga turned her sights to the motorcycling world, and who can blame her thanks to the amazing fashion sense of bikers and general rebel attitude bikers hold toward polite society as a whole. Granted the Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA) might not approve of this video; however, in a media driven world, how better to deliver a story on religion than by having one of the classic Bible stories narrated – in her own unique way – by the world’s biggest pop star while riding a Harley-Davidson no less.
Lady Gaga launches her new video, Judas, riding bitch on the back of the Harley along with leather clad disciples. The video is beautifully shot with rich colors and dynamic imagary and major kudos are due to the stylist and set designers for some fantastic work incorporating Christian symbols throughout the video.
“…When he comes to me, I am ready
I’ll wash his feet with my hair if he needs
Forgive him when his tongue lies through his brain
Even after three times, he betrays me…”
How will most hard core bikers feel about this video? Most will probably dislike it and think it’s bubble-gum pop by some pop star just trying to ride on the biker lifestyle Sons of Anarchy coat-tails. And then, there will be those that see the novel approach in how she has addressed the story of Judas. There will even be those that get the connection between the leather clad bikers and her large GLBT fan-base with a nod here to the Satyrs M.C.
“…I wanna love you,
But something’s pulling me away from you
Jesus is my virtue,
And Judas is the demon I cling to…”
The most enjoyable thing about this video is that Lady Gaga has shown Harley-Davidsons to an audience that might not normally pay attention to the motorcycles, and this is good because the more people that are aware of motorcycles, the better it is for all riders…and any victory possible that spreads motorcycle awareness should be appreciated!
