Schools out for Summer so what is there to do? How about something for the kiddos that involves exercise, learning, and skills development training? For two days in July, thousands of kids get to try their hand at more than 40 different sports clinics, interact with professional athletes, and test their skills at interactive midway games. The 2011 Kids Fitness Festival will be taking place on Wednesday, July 13 and Thursday, July 14 at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.
Elementary and middle school aged children will have the opportunity to get hands-on experience and valuable life lessons that promote character development through sporting activities, lifelong physical fitness, a drug-free lifestyle and safe and fun access to healthy activities.
Picture this: over 100,000 square feet of floor space that is occupied by an endless list of sports clinics and activities where children learn the fundamentals of over 40 sports. Our youth do not get a unique opportunity like this to interact with local and national sports organizations to learn both mainstream sports, such as football, baseball, cheerleading, golf and basketball along with sports that are not commonly found in the general school system, such as badminton, equestrian, fencing, polo and martial arts.
Each clinic is conducted by a professional from that sports area. These professionals share techniques, enhance skills and provide an introduction to the sport. Last year in attendance were representatives from Roger Dean Stadium, Florida Panthers, Florida Atlantic University Football, International Polo Club and Florida Marlins. Plus professional athletes Bennie Blades, Donnell Bennett, James Pruitt and Mike Rumph. More are expected this year.
In addition to the sports clinics, the festival will also offer a midway of interactive games, the opportunity to meet professional and collegiate athletes, and a number of exhibitors promoting nutrition and
healthy lifestyles for youth.
The Kids Fitness Festival also features mascots, autograph sessions, special guests, demonstrations and a midway with a bounce house, rock-wall and mist tent, and much more.
All proceeds from the Kids Fitness Festival benefit the Palm Beach County Sports Commission, a non-profit organization that provides local youths the opportunity to learn sportsmanship, teamwork and citizenship through sport. The Sports Commission also promotes character development through sporting activities, lifelong physical fitness, a drug-free lifestyle and safe and fun access to healthy activities.
