Season 6 of Keeping Up With the Kardashians premiered Sunday night, and Scottsdale fans have been anxious to catch up with America’s favorite outrageous family. KUWTK gives viewers a great peek into the family’s daily lives and lets fans see that there is more to them than what the gossip sites portray.
The season opener begins with Kim Kardashian and now-fiance Kris Humphries eating in New York. Kim shares that they have really clicked and they tease one another about who played more hard to get as they began dating. Kim shares that it is a challenge to balance dating Kris, who plays for the NBA in New Jersey, with family time, since her family based in Los Angeles.
For Khloe and Lamar, they are chilling in Los Angeles now that Lamar’s basketball season is over. Kourtney and Scott have moved into a new house together and Scott shares that he feels they are on the right track together. Kourtney laments that the family has grown apart somewhat with everybody being so busy. Scott suggests that she begin a “Game Night” at their house to bring everybody closer together.
The sisters meet at their mom’s house to coordinate schedules, and Kim brings up the idea of baby names. Khloe shares that if she and Lamar have boys, they plan to name them London and Luke. Kim shocks her sisters by mentioning a possible marriage to Kris, and she wants to reserve some “K” names. Later, Khloe and Kourtney discuss feeling baffled that Kim is already discussing marriage and baby names with Kris. Khloe is frustrated that she makes the effort to always bond with Kim’s boyfriends who then don’t stick around for long and she doesn’t want to continue going through the process with new men.
At Kourtney’s first game night, mom Kris doesn’t come and Kourtney is disappointed. She is frustrated that her mom’s emphasis is on business over family. Kim can’t make it to “Game Night” either, as she is in New York. Kourtney feels that her mom is the leader of the family, and thinks if she had made an effort to attend, others in the family would have as well.
Kris sets up a meeting to discuss a new business opportunity and expects Khloe and Kourtney to attend. Much to her dismay, the girls don’t show and the potential business partners are left waiting. The girls purposely ditched the meeting, to try to teach their mom a lesson. Kris is furious with them as the girls joke around about the situation. Kourtney wants their mom to focus on creating memories and family time, while Kris says it is “f*cked up” that she works so hard to create business opportunities for the girls that they don’t take seriously.
Kim visits Khloe at her house, and there is clearly some resistance in accepting Kris into their family. During Kim’s next visit, she notices that Khloe still has pictures of Kim and her ex-boyfriends displayed. Kim is offended and feels that it is disrespectful. Khloe says she “doesn’t know how to keep up sometimes” and doesn’t want to emotionally invest in every relationship of Kim’s. Kim argues that Khloe brought Lamar into the family and wanted immediate acceptance, while Khloe says that she never tried to force a boyfriend into the family as she says Kim has and Kim storms out of the house.
Kris and Bruce decide that starting a family dinner night again might be just what everyone needs. Things are still tense between Kim and Khloe when the first “Family Dinner” night arrives, and Khloe apologizes to Kim. Khloe says, “I love that you love so hard. I love that and I think that makes you you.” They start to plan double-dates and all is well.
Everybody has shown up for the family dinner, and Kourtney is thrilled to see everyone together. It doesn’t take long for problems to arise, as Rob starts tearing into Kim as she is texting on her phone during dinner. Kim then rips on Rob for living off his sisters. Ultimately, this is the Kardashian family – drama, love, fun and fights. The episode wraps up with Kim racing to head off to New York, but getting her high heel caught and falling flat on the floor on her way out the door.
