Sitting in the small town of Ahuano, Ecuador and surrounded by primary and secondary jungle, La Casa del Suizo (the Swiss guy’s house) has been serving adventurous visitors since last century.
La Casa del Suizo provides a wonderful and comfortable way to experience the jungle life. This limited access and limited availability hide-away resort is composed of what I have decided to call high-end shacks. Shower, toilet, ceiling fan, one full and one twin size beds, and a private patio furnished with one hummock are just some of the luxuries available in each one of the many shacks. Other regular resort amenities such as buffet three times a day, mojitos by the pool, full service bar, and a breathtaking massage spa by the shoe of the Napo river bank are also available.
The Amazon jungle is also known as “the lung of the planet”. This jungle offers amazing and spiritual once in a life time opportunities such as tasting alive lemon-ants, exotic wild guavas, and the delicious tropical white fruit in cocoa; swinging from a vine into the emptiness of the jungle which makes daring visitors experience adrenaline at its purest state!, building a raft out of “balsa wood” and actually utilizing such raft to return from primary jungle back into the resort.
Quichuas are the natives from the area and they live off of hand-made ceramic shops, wood figures shops, and turism in general. Most Ecuadorian meals include delicious rice, and plantain in any of its many presentations.
