Through the pages of its literature, the Watchtower Society, which is the mother organization of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and based here in New York State, USA, produces a strong indoctrination and subordination of it members. The purpose of this indoctrination and subordination is to make sure that the members conform to the point that each member actually loses his or her individuality. The literature of this organization promotes the idea that the individual has no importance at all.
For example, an article in their January 15, 1983 issue of their main journal, “The Watchtower” was entitled, “Avoid Independent Thinking!”. The statements made in this article reveal the ways in which Jehovah’s Witnesses are indoctrinated and subordinated. This article contains statements such as this: ” And just as in the first century there was only one true Christian organization, so today Jehovah, (or God), is using only one organization. (Ephesians 4:4,5; Matthew 24:45-47) Yet there are some who point out that the organization has had to make adjustments before, and so they argue: ‘This shows that we have to make up our own mind on what to believe.’
Then to counter this obviously natural human feeling and to keep everyone in line and subordinated to the way THEY would like the members to think, the Watchtower writers continue the article with these words: “This is independent thinking. Why is it dangerous? Such thinking is evidence of pride. And the Bible says: ‘Pride is before a crash and a haughty spirit before stumbling.’ (Proverbs 16:18) If we get to thinking that we know better than the organization, we should ask ourselves: ‘Where did we learn Bible truth in the first place? Would we know the way of the truth if it had not been for guidance from the organization? Really, can we get along without the direction of God’s organization?’ No, we cannot! Fight against independent thinking.”
When you examine the various expressions in even this one article, you can see that one of the main features of the culture of the Watchtower Society is that they are desperate to keep their members indoctrinated and subordinated. The expressions used in the above-quoted article such as ‘independent thinking’, ‘dangerous’, ‘an evidence of pride’, ‘Can we get along without the guidance of God’s organization?’, ‘No we cannot!’, and ‘Fight against independent thinking’, are nothing but brainwashing techniques.
These brainwashing techniques are distributed throughout the entire worldwide organization of the congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses and even to the general public, because the Watchtower Society prints more than 24 million copies of each Watchtower journal each month for distribution throughout this entire planet, including right here in New York State, in our metropolitan area. And each issue contains similar indoctrination techniques shown in the above quoted January 15, 1983 issue.
It is important for the general public to know when they or their children or even relatives are being subjected to brainwashing techniques.
In harmony with that my next article in this series will detail how the Watchtower Society uses cradle-to-grave techniques to ensure that the indoctrination and subordination described here, extends from generation to generation.
