Orlando, Fla. – As Casey Anthony’s murder trial continued Friday, her jury was played more recorded jailhouse visits between Casey and her family. During the recordings, the Florida mother accused of murdering her daughter, Caylee Anthony, 2, is seen saying things that appear to refute the defense’s theory of the case – that Casey did not harm Caylee, but instead the girl accidentally drowned.
The prosecution posits that tired of being tied down to a young child, Casey murdered Caylee in the summer of 2008. Her defense team, however, claims Caylee drowned in the Anthony family pool on June 15, 2008. They also allege her father, George Anthony, helped her cover up the death.
Casey’s lawyers allege she created an elaborate story to cover up the death of her daughter. This type of bizarre behavior, they claim, is due to the sexual abuse she endured as a child at the hands of her father, requiring her to learn at an early age to lie and hide awful secrets.
During one visitation, Casey praises her mother and father for being the best parents and grandparents one could have.
In addition, George appears extremely sincere when he tells his daughter he would give his life to find Caylee – which does not appear to support the defense theory that Casey and her father conspired to hide Caylee’s body.
During an Aug. 14 recording, Cindy tells Casey, “…someone just said that Caylee was dead this morning, that she drowned in the pool… that’s the newest story out there…” to which Casey responds, “Surprise, surprise…”
In essence, Casey does not react at all and neither does George, although both have conspired to cover up Caylee’s drowning death, according to the defense.
During one visit from just her father – without mother Cindy Anthony – Casey tells him, “You’ll always be my buddy, besides my dad,” which some jurors may find contradicts the defense theory of horrific childhood sexual abuse.
In addition, George says of Caylee, “…I want to hear her say… Jo Jo swim, Jo Jo walk, Jo Jo go to mail… I want that.. I’m going to do anything and everything that I can… moreso than I did before.”
Tru TV commentator and legal expert Casey Jordan noted it unlikely George would speak of the child swimming had he found her lifeless body in the pool.

Throughout the recordings, George and Cindy appear desperate to find little Caylee, while Casey remains steadfast that the nanny absconded with the girl and she has no idea where she is.
Casey also keeps telling her parents she is confident Caylee will return home for her upcoming third birthday in August 2008.

In many of the recordings, Casey appears to be self-absorbed and solely concerned about what is going on with her rather than the intense search for her presumably missing child.
This is seen in several comments she made during the visits, including “I have no one to comfort me but myself” and “…my entire life has been taken from me… everything has been taken from me. You don’t understand, everybody wants me to have answers… I don’t have any answers because I don’t know what’s going on…”
