Holly Hill, the spectacular Stately Homes by-the-Sea Designer Show House to benefit the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey (VNACJ) is a stunning show house of 30 rooms and many dazzling nooks and crannies.
One of these special nooks is the “Wow Pantry,” an annex off the kitchen, created by Sickles Market, Little Silver. According to Cheri Scolari who assisted Leslie Sickles in the designing and supplying of the pantry, she selected products from each of Sickles main categories of pantry foods that included local products, everyday essentials and what Sickles’ staff call “wow” pantry items.
The concept behind the Wow Pantry was to illustrate what a well-rounded, functional pantry stocks to meet a wide range of needs, tastes, and occasions – from everyday snacks and staples, to show-stopping specialties for dining and entertaining in true gourmet style. Additionally, Sickles Market likes to support local entrepreneurs and promote the concept of eating local products whenever possible. Some of these local products include Mazi Piri Piri Sauce, Herbertsville Honey with Walnuts, La Fede Canned Tomatoes and Fourth Creek Sauce.
High quality everyday essentials are important to the cook and include basics such as Pacific Organic Chicken, Beef and Vegetable Broth, Siciliani Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Ariston Select Balsamic, Bartolini pasta, and Stonewall Kitchen Farmhouse Pancake and Waffle Mix. The Wow Pantry is a collection of products that is meant to be at your fingertips at a moment’s notice – when company drops by unexpectedly or a spontaneous celebration erupts in your home. These are the crème de la crème of pantry items, the “wow” specialties of your pantry that your guests will savor and commend you for serving: Eatwell Farms Lavender, Smoked Chili Salt and Geranium Sugar, Ortiz Ventresca (the delectable, buttery belly of the tuna), Sakura Yuzu Marmalade, Wild Mountain Capers in Salt from Les Moulins de Mahjoub, and Marcona Almond Oro Liquido (Liquid Gold Almond Butter) from Spain.
In addition to the Wow Pantry, Sickles gardening and culinary teams created the large, bountiful vegetable garden. “We are pleased to support the VNA in a way that celebrates our community’s beautiful history and beautiful quality of life,” said Bob Sickles, third generation owner of Sickles Market. “Our garden and pantry projects underscore the pleasures of farm-to-table living, knowing where your food comes from, and choosing real food you’ll really love,” he added.
