With Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez in a Cuban hospital in critical condition, there’s finally a glimmer of hope for freedom in the hard line Socialist country.
There’s a new report in El Nuevo Herald, that Chavez is in “critical condition, not grave, but critical, in a complicated situation.”
Members of Chavez’s immediate family “urgently” left the country and flew to Cuba in a Venezuelan air force plane.
The rumor out of Venezuela as well as in US Intelligence circles is that the dictator actually has prostate cancer.
In response to all the rumors, I can give faith that the president is recovering in a satisfactory manner,” Adan Chávez, who is a state governor, said to state television Wednesday. “The president is a strong man.”
Adan Chavez also said that “it’s not clear” when his younger brother Hugo would return to the country but said that he’s expected to leave Cuba within 10 to 12 days.
Hugo Chavez did manage to Tweet a statement that sounded as if he was channeling Charlie Sheen, “I’m here with you during the hard battles every day! Until victory always! We are winning! And we shall win!”
Sounds like ole’ Hugo is just a glass of Tigers Blood away from a speedy recovery.
In the meantime the opposition in Venezuela is charging that Chavez is in breach of the constitution by governing from abroad.
If Cult of Personality Chavez ultimately succumbs to what ails him, freedom has a chance for rebirth in Venezuela.
Here’s hoping for freedom…
