Villa rental experts, like Laura Blair the founder and CEO of In Villas Veritas, have noticed a dramatic increase in villa rentals in Europe and the Caribbean over the past 10 years. In Villas Veritas’ goal is to deliver a level of unparalleled service to their clients who seek out value, comfort, and privacy.
In Villas Veritas represents over 200 properties in Europe, the Caribbean, and the United States that are all hand selected by Laura Blair, herself, who visits every single property prior to choosing to represent them. She has often stayed in these properties to ensure she knows the villa and region inside and out. Blair, who was raised in Europe and spent an extensive part of her life traveling, is fluent in French and Italian and has an extensive list of personal contacts, which makes her the go-to source for all long and short term villa rentals. Blair’s clientele expects the best and trusts her expertise and longstanding track record to deliver the most exceptional properties, service and overall experience.
We were intriqued by Blair’s unparalleled expertise in this exciting field, so were excited to have her sit down and answer a some of our questions about what it’s like to own a luxury villa rental company.
1) How many villa properties have you visited to-date?
Too many to count. Over the past 15 years, it must now be almost 1000. However, just because I visit a property doesn’t mean we will represent it. I only represent villas that merit up to the standards of what my clients expect from In Villas Veritas. Often times, we have to stop representing a property if it’s maintenance begins to suffer or if a property gets sold.
2) What are some of the most incredible properties you have seen and what makes them so unique?
Well, I think all of our properties are incredible, otherwise we wouldn’t represent them! Some at the top of my list right now for “most amazing” are Villa Tre Ville in Positano, Villa La Cassinella in Lake Como and Villa Sea View In Cap Ferrat. Of course, all the chateau I represent are also so impressive and have such beautiful architecture and history! What makes all of these unique is their location and extremely high levels of accommodation and style as well as privacy. It’s a special privilege to be able to “live” temporarily at these properties.
3) Who is the quintessential villa renter?
Very often it’s a grandparent who wants to take his or her whole family, all three generations, and needs the space as well as privacy for the family. Villa renting can also actually result in great savings over hotels even at the highest levels for many people staying at the same time. Otherwise, it can be friends who join families together for a trip or a group of couples/friends.
4) What recommendations would you have for someone looking to rent a villa that never has before?
I would say to ask a lot of questions from the agent. A first time renter should be provided with as much information as possible to answer all questions so they have a good sense of what to expect. A good agent should be able to take any “guesswork” out of the equation and provide the best possible experience at the right property for the client.
5) What are some of the most incredible/unusual services you have seen a villa provide for their clients?
There is nothing too unusual. Service is paramount as long as it’s a legal request!
6) What regions would you say are most popular and/or best for renting a villa? (i.e. where in France, where in Italy, where in the Carribean?)
Well, the most popular areas are best for renting a villa simply because less traveled areas do not have many rental possibilities. Also popular areas are suited for family travel and families love villa rentals as they get more bang for their buck and space, privacy and “togetherness”.
7) Why have you mainly focused on those 3 regions?
I know France and Italy very well because I was born and raised in France and also have spent a lot of time in Italy. I speak the languages and have great connections there through friends and business networks. I have rented myself for many years in the Caribbean and have added that destination due to popular demand from my clients.
8) Do you have plans of expanding to other countries?
I do have properties in other countries because if I get a stunning property offered to me elsewhere, I will represent it in order to have a wider arena of possibilities for my clients.
9) What is your favorite part of your job?
Traveling to see and stay in the properties and booking events such as birthdays or weddings, anniversaries…all these happy occasions that always turn out to be so special for those involved.
10) Where do you see yourself/ your company in 5 years?
Well I keep adding better properties and weeding out any that don’t measure up so I see myself as always offering better properties and service and maintaining the highest standards my clients have come to expect from IVV.
