You’re an excellent catch and you know it! You’ve got a great job, great home, and a great vehicle. You’ve pushed past your divorce and upsetting relationships and you’re on the path to greatness. Your children are out of the house and you’ve never felt better in your life. Unfortunately, you love life doesn’t reflect that.
How can you be so wonderful and the men around you don’t see it?
Let us reflect here. You went on your last date a few days ago. He was handsome, but you’ve seen better. You kept looking at that chin of his that reminded you of your ex-husband and he had an index finger that was slightly crooked to the left. He had a mediocre job and you’re sure you make more money. He took you to a restaurant that was two stars at best and besides that, he just smiled at you all night like a sick puppy.
For some reason, this is how all of your dates have been going.
So now, as you sit alone on another Saturday night, you ponder your still single status. Have you ever sat and thought that maybe the problem was you? We all know you adopted the rap song “INDEPENDENT” as your life’s theme song. Unfortunately, you’ve taken this to another level. There is nothing wrong with an independent woman, but there is something definitely wrong with a self-worshiping tyrant.
In a relationship there is give and take. You might not ever find the man you fantasize yourself being with, but if he’s trying to do right by you and treats you as an equal, maybe you should give him a chance. He might not look like George Clooney or make the money of Bill Gates, but he wants to worship you as if you were Cleopatra. You, however, never give that man the chance because of the few imperfections he has when you meet.
So next time you meet a man who opens the door for you, makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside, and seems to have a stable job with very little personal baggage, count yourself lucky and go on that second date. After a while, that crooked front tooth won’t matter that much to you.
