Sleep is an important human function which is essential for good physical health and good mental health. Even though sleep is so important many Montrealers take sleeping for granted. They either sleep too much or more often than not, sleep less than is recommended for good health. Montrealers will catnap rather than sleep, burn the midnight oil studying, play on the computer, or just insist that they are too busy too sleep.

Avoid dairy products at night. They can cause mucous in the throat and chest and that again will obstruct the airways.
While you are being cautious about what you are putting in your body, don’t smoke or drink. These substances cause the tissue in the back of the throat to soften and collapse; thus, obstructing the airways. Males should not drink more than two alcoholic beverages and women no more than one per day. If you drink make sure you do it at least four hours before you go to bed. There is no recommended number of acceptable cigarettes per day. It is best you do not smoke or drink at all.
The above remedies and tips should take care of simple snoring however, when the snoring is more severe, more aggressive methods may be needed.
If the above methods do not work, if you feel tired after a full night’s sleep, or you wake up in the night gasping for air, your condition may be more than just snoring. You may have sleep apnea.
