Tonight’s new episode of How I Met Your Mother was ‘Perfect Cocktail’ at 8PM on CBS 2 in Queens. The Arcadian Hotel once again became a sore point for the gang, but this time it stemmed from a disagreement between Marshall and Barney. However, Ted and Zoey weren’t all happy-go-lucky in this episode either.
Though Marshall left GNB, he had a hard time getting another job because Arthur told the man interviewing him for an environmental legal position lies upon lies. When he headed back to GNB, he bumped into Zoey, who had an idea on how he could get back at GNB. She hired him as her lawyer to help save the Arcadian, placing them against Ted and Barney. And so began the war between Barney and Marshall. It escalated until they got physical in the bar and got banned, as did Lily and Robin, who had been keeping a woman from getting their booth.
The girls decided to figure out a way to get the two boys talking again, but it was difficult figuring out which type of alcohol would have a positive effect on everyone. When the four headed out to a bar, the girls used their knowledge of each alcohol’s effect to first get them angry at one another (gin). Next, they gave them whisky to make them honest with one another. Marshall confessed that the Arcadian speaks to him because of the death of his father, and Barney pointed to his father leaving him for his abandonment issues. They then turned to daiquiris to make them more cheerful. The boys wound up doing shots of tequila before leaving and heading back to the usual bar. The girls found them there and discovered they made up over beer.
Ted and Zoey headed for a romantic weekend away, and though he insisted they weren’t talking about it, he brought it up and blamed her for bringing Marshall to her side. He decided to resolve things once and for all by bringing her to the Arcadian for their romantic trip together. And that place could definitely use quite a lot of work. He said he would change over to her side if she lasted the night there. They kept finding more and more things wrong with it, but Zoey confessed that she and her family used to live there when she was young. That’s a valid reason for her fighting to preserve it. She wanted him to like it because of what it meant to her, and they said, “I love you.” The cockamouse made a return and had babies, and that was what made Zoey change her mind about the hotel.
However, the next morning, Marshall and Barney were still angry at one another, and the girls realized the boys blacked out after drinking champagne the night before. Ted and Zoey joined in the discussion, and Ted said he was on Zoey’s side now. Lily and Robin left the four alone and enjoyed absinthe. The episode ended with Lily and Robin stalking their table, then using Barney’s guy to disgust the girls in order to get the table back.
