Houston, Texas was the host to the latest Nike Football Training Camp which saw several of the areas top high school stars swarm to Houston, to compete in various drills and exercises including one on one drills against opposing players.
The Nike Football Training Camp was held at the University of Houston and was open to the top prospects of the 2012 and 2013 Classes. The camp featured several stars from in and around the Houston area and even a couple that made the trip over from neighboring Louisiana, which was well represented.
The Camp is designed to give prospects a chance to compete in drills and earn awards and recognition among scouts. A lot of players that may have been flying under the radar could potentially bring some positive attention their way.
Houston suburb Missouri City was represented well at the camp with a handful of stars at camp including two of the top athletes at wide receiver.
Missouri City Hightower quarterback Bralon Addison who is expected to play wide receiver at the next level is rated a four star wide receiver by Rivals, was one of the camps top performers at the wide receiver position.
At 5-foot-10 and 182 pounds Addison possesses soft hands and great moves. He may not have break neck speed but does have the ability to find holes in the defense.
Addison appears to be narrowed down to Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and Texas Tech according to Rivals with the Aggies holding a slight lead.
“I’ve been hearing from coach Toth, coach Sherman, coach Williams and coach Walters — basically everybody,” he said. “I feel real good about it.”
Addison has two teammates who are already committed to the Aggies in Matt Davis and Trey Williams who he says have been trying to nudge him into joining them in becoming Aggies.
“Those are my buds,” he said. “We talk about it every now and then.”
Another Missouri City star Chance Allen from Elkins High School was another of the camp’s top performers. The 6-foot-2, 185 pounder was one of the Houston areas top performers in 2010.
Allen could be a prime example of an athlete who comes in flying under the radar who will now garner more attention due to his camp performance.
Allen already has offers from Iowa State and Tulsa and has received interest from other schools such as Missouri, Texas A&M, Rice, Boise State and Arkansas.
Boise State appears to be close to offering Allen a scholarship and that could sway the Broncos to the top of his list, but after his performance at camp, they could be in for a tough fight to land Allen as he is also very high on Arkansas.
“I talk to Arkansas a lot. I talk to coach (Chris) Klenakis there. I went up there for a visit and it was really interesting. I think I communicate with them the most out of any school.” Allen said.
When asked recently who his favorite was, “I want to say Arkansas,” he said.
Being that its only spring there is plenty of time left for recruiting and things will really start to heat up come next winter when teams will be trying to complete their signing classes.
Keep an eye out for these two Missouri City products; you could be hearing a lot about them at the next level.
