Harold Camping, an 89 year old Radio Preacher, has predicted the end of the world to be happening tomorrow, May 21, 2011. People are discussing the event across the country, on radio, television, and on the Internet.
Although, doomsday prophets are nothing new, some people seem quite troubled by this particular prediction. Mr. Camping has done this before, predicting another endtime in 1994, and, obviously, he was wrong. The large number of people who are promoting Judgment Day through signs, t-shirts, and such may possibly lend more credibility to the movement in the minds of those who follow the crowd.
Ask the authority
You might like to consult the ultimate authority on matters regarding the end of time or rapture of the church, but where would you go? If you were able to ask Jesus Christ your questions about tomorrow’s predicted event, would that be helpful? Well, the great thing is that He already answered these questions for us! You can get your answers tonight. Here are a few questions that you might have and the answers Jesus provided in the 24th chapter of Matthew.
1. Can Harold Camping actually know what day and time that the end will come?
36But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
King James Version Matthew 24: 36
2. What should we do if someone tells us that Jesus is here to take us to heaven? Should we go?
26Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
27For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
King James Version Matthew 24:26-27
3. So, we really can’t have any idea when Jesus returns for his own?
32Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
33So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
King James Version Matthew 24:32-33
4. What are some signs of the end that Jesus mentions in this chapter? (There are similar passages of prophesy in other parts of the Scriptures.)
6And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
8All these are the beginning of sorrows.
King James Version Matthew 24: 6-8
5. Whenever Christ returns, what will it be like, assuming it won’t be lots of people wearing the date on their shirts?
29Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
30And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
King James Version Matthew 24: 29-31
6. What in the world should we do?
42Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
King James Version Matthew 24: 42
It’s up to you!
There you have it! Harold Camping or Jesus Christ. You decide.
It is more pertinent to be ready to meet your Maker than to ponder the exact date of his return. Most Christian authorities think it could very well be soon.
Are you ready?
