Haitian Heritage and Friends of Haiti will be holding a wonderful fund raising event, A Taste of Haiti, in Charlotte. A Taste of Haiti is scheduled for May 21st, 2011 at 6 PM at Hilton Center City. This is located at 222 East Third Street in Charlotte. Those not sure about this location, please view this map.
For those not familiar with Haitian Heritage and Friends of Haiti, this is a group based in Charlotte. This non-profit organization will use funds from A Taste of Haiti to assist in shipping a second ambulance as well as two trailers that contain bathrooms to Haiti. Everyone interested in attending can find details using one of the links included with this information.
Sponsors are needed for this event and further details may be found on Haitian Heritage and Friends of Haiti site for those interested. At this event Haitian Cuisine, a silent auction, entertainment and more will be enjoyed.
Many groups in Charlotte help those in Haiti with donations and by volunteering in Haiti, and it is understood that efforts must continue for decades. Local churches and private individuals have sponsored missions sending funds, supplies and medical personnel to Haiti for many years.

Medical – Over the counter drugs, crutches, wheelchair
Food – Rice, beans, sugar, flour, oil. sardines, peanut butter, tuna fish, spaghetti, tomato paste, salt, cereal, cookies, chips, crackers, baby food, baby formula, etc..
Sports – Soccer, basketball, volleyball – equipments and uniforms
Clothing & Accessories – Jeans, sneakers, shoes, t-shirts, belts, socks, flip-flops, dresses, shirts, hats, etc…
School Supplies – Book bags, notebooks, pens, pencils, binders, binder papers, crayons, markers
Bedding – Sheets, pillow cases, blankets, pillows
Hygiene Kits – Toothbrushes, combs, brushes, toothpaste, soap, deodorant, razors
Other – Solar energy lantern, washbasin, buckets, kid toys, toilet paper, diapers, games: dominoes, cards, board games (i.e. Chinese checkers, Chess, etc…)
The Taste of Haiti will help raise funds to assist with the expenses of shipping the second ambulance and bathroom trailers filled with needed items to Haiti. The goal of this event is to raise $30,000.
