“Thus saith the Lord, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed.” Isaiah 56:1
As we read of lawmakers seeking to halt federal funding, to keep federal officials from routing money through the state agency to the largest abortion provider in the country, it makes me wonder of the morals and order of those who run our government and make moral decisions. We no longer do what is morally right, decent and of good civil order. Don’t we know that human government was in God’s plan to exist and to help Him carry on moral government and enforce moral laws down here on earth? These rulers are appointed by God, but He is not responsible for their acts. If they get out of line, He will judge them. God has delegated authority to defend the good and punish the evil. Rulers are God’s ministers to execute God’s wrath upon the ungodly and preserve moral law & government for the good of all!
“Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.” Romans 13:1
All God’s covenant are based upon this principle of right and wrong, sin and righteousness. In the event of sins against both God and man there must be punishment to assure continued respect for government and those who govern. Is the government too loose and/or rulers too weak, too merciful or too forbearing to execute the good and moral laws and to punish rebellion? God is not such a ruler nor does He carry on a weak government! He upholds law and order and sends out punishment and reward as required. He is a qualified ruler, capable of His sovereignty and moral responsibility. It does not matter whether angels or men, God demands obedience to all His laws. He will (under obligation) render either punishment or blessing. If God were like man and were lenient in just one case and failed to execute punishment, it would break down respect for Him. There is no respect of persons with God. He has no favors in which He will punish some and allow others to get away — this is not considered just. It is our duty to obey the laws with nothing to fear providing the rulers are righteous and properly enforce the law. But we know that God will handle them that do wrong by and with the law(s). We should take into consideration what God says to be moral and righteous when handling the laws for the people and not what man thinks. This will spare our souls from judgment and allow us to receive blessing instead.
“For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” James 2:10
It is absurd to believe that rulers have the right to govern, and not the right to use the necessary means to carry on good government!
