Marcus Boyd, AKA Gameface, often hears the comparisons between him and the late great Biggie Smalls. The stature, the voice, the lyrical genius, the New York connections.
However, as much as he respects one of the greatest hip-hop artists of all-time, Gameface realizes it’s time to create his own legacy.
““I respect him [Biggie Smalls], he was my mentor, him and Common. But, I don’t want to be another imitation. I’m going to let his legacy live and build my own legacy as Gameface.”
America, welcome to Gameface, one of the nation’s most promising hip-hop artists. He currently resides in Courtland, Virginia, where he dominates the local music scene with his Solid Ground Music Group. His resume includes working with some of biggest names in the music industry, including Mr. Cheeks, Sadat X, Masta Ace, Youngbloodz, Kool G Rap, Lords of the Underground, and Camp Lo.
However, as much as he appreciates the local support he has received, Gameface is ready to make a name for himself on the national stage. To help him reach this goal, he recently contacted RHK Productions, one of the nation’s most-respected promotional and marketing firms.
“After talking to Gameface, we knew right away that he had big-time talent. Of course, we noticed the comparisons to Biggie Smalls, but he made it very clear he wanted to create his own legacy”, said a rep from RHK Productions. “Occasionally, when we meet an artist, we have some reservations about how marketable they are or how much hunger they have. However, after the first five minutes with Gameface, we knew we had a gem on our hands. Our plan is pretty aggressive: we’re going to familiarize America with Gameface’s name, get quality music out there, do some collaborations, and then get him on some shows. He’s going to be a star, not only in Courtland, but nationwide.”
RHK Productions’ first major move for Gameface is reportedly a collaboration with popular Virginia Beach rapper and freestyle phenomenon Blunt Daddy. There are also plans to include him on RHK Productions “Red-Hot Kittens Tour 2011’ as a featured performer. Past performers on the highly-acclaimed tour include Washington DC stars Suga SP, Ant Ferrario, Born I Music, and MrYoungBanks.

Exclaim Magazine on Gameface: “He reveals the most potential of this newest generation of Virginia rappers. He lyrically covers a lot of ground, speaking candidly about politics, society and himself, as well as taking time to drop some battle raps and abstract rhymes. Most impressive is his rare ability to make it all work on one album.”
