In what will surely become known as “The Most Momentous Thing Ever to Happen at Comedy Examiner HQ”, tonight’s Funny Photo isn’t actually a “funny photo”. In complete defiance of our entire reason for running Funny Photo articles, tonight’s entry is actually some sort of optical illusion. While it won’t make you laugh, it sure as hell might make you feel funny if you stare at it long enough. And that, my friends, is what happens when it’s late on a Friday night and there’s nothing new to report. See it for yourselves below, my gentle Examiner readers…
The photo down there on the left might not be considered a “Funny Photo” in the usual sense of the term– after all, there’s nothing inherently funny about it, and you probably won’t burst out laughing the first time you see it– but if you spend a good minute staring directly into this shot, we suspect that you might start feeling a little funny. Go on, click the button over there on the left to see it biggie-sized. We dare you.
What we have here is something called a “Fractal”, a kind-of optical illusion that we won’t even begin to claim that we understand. All we know is, frequent Comedy Examiner reader “Philip R.”– the same guy who sent in some of the best “Funny Photos” we ran last month, and we continue to thank him for those– shoved this monstrosity into our inbox earlier today, and we haven’t been able to start glaring at it ever since.
In fact, we’re feeling kinda nauseous. So, y’know, thanks a heap, Phil. Good work there, Cap’n.
If anyone feels like explaining just what the hell’s going on here, you can feel free to do so in the comments section below. I’m sure there’s some fancy-pants explanation for why the photo on the left appears to be morphing its way out of the computer screen at us, but it’s not like we’re in the business of researching computer-generated optical illusions. That’s the Computer-Generated Optical Illusions Examiner’s job.
Stay tuned for more “Funny Photos” (and photos that make you want to recycle your breakfast) in the near future, folks. While you’re waiting on the next one, pass this one along to everyone you’re not a fan of, sound off in the comments section, and try not to yak on my shoes on your way out the door.
