Summer is a time of year you want to be outside as much as possible, especially here in Portland when it has rained a good part of the year. It’s a good time to enjoy all the green and reap the benefits of all that rain. You might as well have a purpose for being outside, though, because you can both appreciate the good weather and do something fun.
Stretch your travel budget farther this summer with Flicks on the Bricks. Instead of spending money on a theater movie or pay-per-view in your hotel room, head over to Pioneer Courthouse Square and enjoy a free movie with others.
Flicks on the Bricks run on Friday nights in July and August and pre-entertainment starts promptly at 7pm, with movies starting at dusk. It needs to be a bit dark to see the giant movie screen. Bring your own snacks and make it a real movie-going experience! There will also be vendors on-site for purchasing popcorn, candy and drinks. So, what’s on the menu this summer? 2011 brings you these fun titles:
July 22nd – Top Gun
July 29th – Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade
August 5th – Westside Story
August 12th – Despicable Me
August 19th – Stand By Me
This is a great family-friendly activity and a nice way to relax and unwind after a long day of Portland sightseeing and keep some dollars in your pocket.
